Dr. Bruce MacFadden, Curator and Professor of Vertebrate Paleontology, Florida Museum of Natural History and the University of Florida The Panama Canal is currently being expanded on a scale not seen since the original excavations one hundred years ago. A team of scientists from the U.S. and Panama, led by Dr. Bruce MacFadden, are capitalizing on these new digs, uncovering important fossil deposits that have revealed a new understanding of ancient biodiversity.
