Early October Windsurfing in Rochester NY. Rick Griffin and Ed Schmitt, among the best windsurfers in the area, were the only ones to take to the water and successfully brave the elements that day. Dogs were blowing off chains, and the lake was fierce with waves approaching fifteen feet and winds to fifty mph in the forecast. Much respect to the brave men lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald. When riding the great lakes in these conditions, you can't help but think of those that have lost when the elements combine this way. Thank you Gordon Lightfoot for an epic song about a tragic event. Thank you Rheostatics for a stirring rendition of said song.
