In this Crockettville vlog post, Will Crockett shares the first take at the photo worlds new power trio of the Lumix GH3+12-35mm+35-100mm and why, hybrid minded pros at least, can listen closely and hear the death rattle of the DSLR rising over the chatter in the room. This pair of lenses will replace - yes REPLACE - our beloved 24-70mm f2.8 and the iconic 70-200 f2.8 Nikon / Canon lenses with smaller, lighter, tougher, sharper, less expensive lenses. It's not time for most of us to eBay off our Canon 5D's quite yet, but some of us sure can. Some think that it's the mirrorless camera itself that will kill off the DSLR, but I don't think so. There are a few terrific pro level mirrorless cameras out now like the Fuji X Pro and the Olympus OMD but pros are still choosing full framed DSLRs instead at 3X the pricetag. It's all about the glass.... The 2 new constant aperture zooms from the Lumix folks are the backbreakers to the DSLR. As hybrid clicks confidently into mainstream imaging, the 12-35mm f 2.8 and the new 35-100mm f 2.8 zooms are now noted as glorious milestones in the evolution on photography. How many times have we all struggled with the sheer size of the 70-200 f2.8's we cannot live without? Those days are gone.
