Dr. Richard S. Lindzen is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests include the broad topics of climate, planetary waves, monsoon meteorology, planetary atmospheres, and hydrodynamic instability.
Dr. Lindzen is currently studying the determinants of pole to equator temperature difference, the nonlinear equilibrium of baroclinic instability and the contribution of such instabilities to global heat transport.
