Bathtub Plumbing - New Installation

submitted by EPlumber on 10/27/13 1

Learn how to do the plumbing for a new bathtub installation. In this case, I'm installing a tub in an unfinished basement bathroom so video 1 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYZpkW3vdTU) shows how to cut into the concrete and get under the foundation while this video shows the plumbing setup, test fitting and finished product. Tubs will vary as far as installation but mine required a lot of screws into the surrounding studs preceded by liquid nails/construction glue on the base of the tub and surrounding walls. Questions? Leave a comment and I'll do my best to get back to you. CORRECTIONS: Viewers have pointed out some mistakes I made so I wanted to be sure to pass the corrections along. They're noted in the video already but 1) Use ABS Glue, not PVC glue, 2) Always apply the glue to both fittings - not just one and 3) make sure the opening on the overflow valve face down, not up. Thanks for the feedback, guys. We've been using the bathroom for about a year and everything's working great.
