GNR N2 No.1744 First Moves!

submitted by Gresley on 08/30/14 1

Newly overhauled N2 No.1744 made its first run up the Great Central Railway for the first time in 10 years on Wednesday 27th May 2009. After two days of running about in Loughborough Station Yard it is seen venturing out of Loughborough Central Station and up towards Leicester North. No.1744 is going to be painted in GNR Apple Green as opposed to the previous BR Black livery it wore before its mandatory 10 year overhaul. Filming this was a bit of luck, we drove over the GCR by my request on the way home from the Dentists because I knew the N2 was running from inside knowledge and low and behold it was there jusrt running up to the signal awaiting departure up the main line! As you can probably tell I was thrilled, probable one of the first times the N2 has been filmed running since its overhaul if not the first! Weel done to everyone at the GCR for getting her back to steam!
