Dr. Vijay discusses the risk factors for developing breast cancer. There is no significant correlation between consuming one or two alcoholic drinks a week and an increased risk in developing breast cancer. Consuming alcohol in moderation, especially if you have a genetic risk factor for breast cancer is important. If you have a personal history of breast cancer or an immediate family member that has had breast cancer, you should be very cautious about consuming alcohol. Obesity should also be avoided to decrease your risk of developing breast cancer. Exercising, losing weight and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle will also decrease your risk of developing breast cancer.
