Back in 94, K-1 became more strict for many reasons as they follow suit with Seido and their strictness. Particularly, The low blow. Here was a good example of the fight between Taiei Kin vs. Changpuak Kiatsongrit. At that time the lowblow was warned and point deducted but no DQ. Because of all those knees Changpuek hit on Kin( he was dominating Kin) he lost the match by all those negatives points from the low blows. This was for the UKF WORLD LIGHT HEAVY CLASS TITLE MATCH....but apparently no one told Changpuek to not knee on the groin. Thus The Ballbuster Theory happened in effect. Nowadays its consider a fault even if you don't hit the groin but if you hit below the pelvis its a fault causing point deduction and also into DQ as you see in the Hoost/Branco fight where Branco is stunned for getting that fault warning. Seido was more stricter, if you hit a person low that would penalized you by 5 (a lot*), as Sam Greco does it in his Seido fight, that would have hurt Greco in the match but he's dominant that it didn't matter to him because he went for the KO. But the worse you can do in Seido Kaikan was a hit to the face. That would deducted you big time as Patrick Smith does it (*giggles*) to....but later he gets The Judo Slap!
