The suspension comes out of fears that rockets fired from Gaza could endanger the flights. The U-S Federal Aviation Administration renewed its formal ban on American flights to Israel until Thursday. Major Canadian and European airlines also extended the suspension. Turkey's national carrier has also extended its suspension of direct flights to Tel Aviv. The situation has left thousands of travelers stranded in Israel who are desperately trying to get out. The cancelation came after a rocket fired from Gaza struck near Israel's main international airport in Tel Aviv on Tuesday. Washington says its assessments indicate that Hamas has rockets that can reach Israel's Ben Gurion airport.
