Meet Hema, a dedicated Paryavaran Sakhi whose love for the forests of Corbett drives her mission to transform waste management at the grassroots. This film captures her journey, along with 23 other Sakhis, as they lead a movement for cleaner villages, lower carbon emissions, and sustainable tourism. Over the past year (Jan–Dec 2024), the Sakhis have collected 92 metric tonnes of solid waste, sending 51MT for recycling—preventing 6,440 kg of CO₂ and 2,530 kg of methane emissions while protecting 133 trees from felling. Their efforts conserve land, mitigate climate change, and inspire communities to take ownership of their waste. The Paryavaran Sakhi Model is a four-way solution tackling: 🌍 Climate action 🌿 Biodiversity conservation 👩🔧 Livelihood generation 🏞️ Responsible tourism Waste Warriors supports these changemakers by providing training, facilitating local governance collaborations, and helping establish waste management bylaws. With plans to expand to all 53 panchayats in Ramnagar, the Sakhis are proving that grassroots action can drive systemic change. Watch their journey, and join the movement to protect Corbett’s landscapes! ♻️🌿 #ParyavaranSakhi #WasteWarriors #ClimateAction #SustainableTourism #WomenInAction #JImCorbett
