The story is about a Grouchy Ladybug who challenges a Friendly Ladybug to a fight over which one of them should eat some aphids for breakfast but then decides that the Friendly Ladybug is not large enough to be worth fighting. The book "The Grouchy Ladybug" from Eric Carle is a great starting point to talk about bullies and feelings. The children will learn how to recognize their feelings, compare sizes, learn to tell time, learn about the ladybug's life cycle and create a ladybug life cycle book, and move and play with ladybugs.A grouchy ladybug, is looking for a fight, and disrespects everyone she meets. In the end she learns good manners and how to respect others. Ask the children if they know what a bully is? Define bully for the children. Ask the children if The Ladybug would be a good friend.
