The award nominee LIFE IN NEW YORK by Big Timothy Music [in association with The Reel Room and Evolve Theatre] It is based on the true story of a 17 year old girl who endured two years of physical and emotional abuse from someone she loved with all her heart and couldn't bear to leave; her boyfriend. We just want to raise awareness of this appalling crime which often goes unreported as many victims are too afraid to speak out. Relationship abuse can happen to anyone. It can happen to men, women, girls and boys. It's not only physical violence, abuse can be emotional or sexual. "Why don't they just leave?" is a question that people often ask as if it's the easiest thing in the world. It's much easier said than done. Love, fear, shame and the intense belief that you can change this person are just a few things that make people stay. But it can't go on any more. Awareness must be raised. These violent acts cannot happen any longer. Abusers must be prosecuted and something needs to change. "Such an unbelievable amount of sleepless nights, hard work, blood, sweat and tears have gone into this video! It's for such a worthy cause so we just wanted to get it right. It's not fair to every victim out there if we don't give it our all and really try to raise awareness. It is such a rewarding feeling to not only get my music out there but to promote this often unreported crime which needs to stop now.
