Megan Nicole Pettis was a brilliant ray of sunshine in the lives of every person she ever met. Always laughing & kind hearted, those who know her will remember the warmth and love she brought with her everywhere she went. Born in Panama City , September 15, 1988 , Megan spent most of her life here in Panama City Beach, so she was a beach girl , though her heart was always in the country & she spent much of her childhood with relatives in the country riding horses & "being a country girl". When Megan was twelve she & her family were blessed with the arrival of her little sister Cassidy. Over the years, her little princess, remained a central focus in her world & a source of great joy to her. Megan was also an athlete, spending her early years as a gymnast followed by a lengthy career as a soccer player. Megan always refused to fail at anything she did, and pushed herself as necessary in order to succeed. After graduating from Arnold HS in 2007, Megan began GCCC on scholarship, while working full time, with the intent of a career in early education. However, she soon found herself at Dillard's. It was there that she found her career path. In just a few short years she made her way into a management position. Those who worked with her found her to be exactly who she truly was : compassionate , loving , open hearted, but always willing to work and expecting those around her to follow her example. She is survived by her mother Pamela Pettis Cobb , father James Ray Pettis , sister Cassidy Hanna Cobb, step-father Erik Alan Cobb , grandparents Dave & Linda Garner ,grandfather James Winston Pettis (Becky), grandmother Helen Joyce Lovelace ,grandparents Lowell & Karin Cobb, uncles & aunts: David & Carla Garner, Mark & Rachel Pettis ,Keith & Beth Christie and cousins Ava & Jessica Pettis, and Emilee Garner. Her family has started The Megan Pettis Memorial Scholarship Fund, and donations can be made at any Tyndall Federal Credit Union.
