The Cat/Kite Rule - Billy Jean (Parody)

I learned this rule after teaching literacy intervention for SEVEN years from my Orton-Gillingham Training with IMSE!!! Lyrics for your students: Did you ever just stop to think, When you are spelling, "Does this word start with k or c?" You’re not sure which one! So you use the cat/kite rule. If you're not sure which one... Then you use the cat/kite rule. In words like kid, and in key, and kite, They got e and i! And cat, and cup, and in cob, They got an a, o and u. And they fo-llow the cat/kite rule! Teacher always told me, Be careful when you choose, If your word starts with a c or k! EEEEEE! And teacher always told me, Pay attention to the vowel, Is it i or is it e? is it a or o or u? YAAAAAA The letter K goes with i and e, And letter C goes with o, and a, and with u! It’s the cat and the kite rule! So just find the vowel, It's the cat and the kite rule!
