So you're basically creating your own samples. This is also very useful if you're experiencing CPU overload because you're using some resource-hungry plugin. It allows you to turn your MIDI pattern into an audio clip which doesn't tax your CPU. It's not like a proper freeze function that's available in other DAWs, as you need to manually disable the plugin(s) after you've resampled them.
