Automation is a vital tool for mixing in a DAW. It allows us to change parameters over time, turn things on and off at different times and generally improve our final production. Automation makes it possible to add a creative layer to our productions that truly takes our music to the next level. But, with host automation, we can actually compose with instruments in more interesting ways. Automation isn't just about mixing, it is a real instrument that we can compose with! In this stream, I'll demonstrate how easy host automation is. Host automation is NOT the same as MIDI Learn or MIDI CC automation. I love host automation because it just works - very little setup needed. Since the setup is easier, I find myself getting to the writing stage in a faster, more natural way. Let's check out how host automation works for Komplete Kontrol and Maschine in Cubase. But, host automation works in other DAWs and with many other VST instruments.
