Recorded in 1969 by Jay and the Americans, their remake of "This Magic Moment" is one of their best known songs with lead vocal by Jay Black, the second and more widely known of the "Jays", as lead vocal. A pop music group popular in the 1960s, Jay and the Americans withstood the British invasion by touring extensively and created a decade's worth of hits on 15 albums. Ironically, they appeared in the first American concert for The Beatles who were thought by the music industry to be just a cover band with a gimmick. The song, originally recorded by the outstanding Ben E. King and The Drifters, scored #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960.
