The film criticizes Church teaching about LGBTQ+ people, yet it remains respectful of those of faith. It is the only documentary to include interviews with virtually all the current, leading advocates of LGBTQ+ Catholics, including several clergy, directors of prominent organizations seeking change, and a former U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican. The film also features behind-the-scenes footage of creation of unprecedented, photographic iconography depicting Jesus as a member/ally of the LGBTQ+ community. Jesus is portrayed by multiple LGBTQ+ models of diverse ethnicities, genders, races, sexualities, and identities. The reactions of the film’s interviewees were filmed as they saw the images for the first time. The images are revealed at the end of the film and will be made publicly available.
