Juxtapoz x Adobe Present: The Making of... A Jeremy Fish Drawing

submitted by ROARK on 07/15/14 1

For the past few months, we have been following a special project between Adobe, Juxtapoz, and Jeremy Fish, in which Fish will be creating an animated mural that utilizes the new updates to Adobe Creative Cloud and the new creative hardware, Adobe Ink & Slide. Previously we had asked, "What if Fish took his 100 drawings—telling not only his history but also a special story about San Francisco—and created an animation that could be projected in a public space in the city for passersby to see as part of a moving-mural experience?" At the end of July 2014, Fish will be projecting the mural in the North Beach neighborhood, which he calls home. Using Adobe Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC, After Effects CC, and the collaboration features in Adobe Creative Cloud, Fish and his friends will work together to bring the mural to life. In this video we show Fish's work in the context of his day-to-day art-making process. He is an artist who works with pens and ink, meticulously crafting his narrative drawings and paintings, which begin on an 11" x 14" piece of paper. As part of this series, which shows Fish transforming his work into a projection and mural that we hope creates new opportunities to share his art, we wanted to showcase the core of Fish's studio practice: drawing. Here we capture the making of one of Fish's iconic 11" x 14" pieces, which will be part of his mural animation. This is part 3 in a six-part video-documentary series.
