Suicide awareness and prevention

submitted by ICN on 03/08/23 1

This session helps to increase awareness and promote prevention of suicide, asking the questions: is suicide predictable or preventable? As well as myth busting some of the common beliefs and language around suicide. Statistics on the scale of the problem, and local and National prevention initiatives to reduce suicide and support people affected by suicide were shared. An example of lived experience was also provided giving an insight into how suicidal thinking can be overcome. We recognise that suicide is an emotive and difficult subject and if you feel at all impacted please reach out for support. 0800 448 0828 24hrs mental health number Text 85258 SHOUT for mental health support 116 123 24hr line Samaritans
