Over the last fifteen years Claire Hallam has gained a significant amount of experience of working within acute respiratory care as a Physiotherapist. This is not Claire's usual job, that’s within Community Brain Injury for Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - however she has never wanted to step away or lose her respiratory skills. When these skills were called upon to support her local acute hospital during the COVID pandemic, Claire was more than willing to step into that environment. But what she hadn’t anticipated was the hesitation of others. In this personal story, Claire reflects on how her journey from this point forwards has changed her way of thinking, and how with the support of Stronger Together she can now use words such as 'courageous' and 'extraordinary' to describe her actions "without cringing too much" and feel less guilty about sharing the positive aspects of her time working within intensive care.
