An extraordinary group of people gather around Jesus. They come from all walks of life, farmers, fishermen, homemakers, carpenters, soldiers. They are poor, grieving, homeless, hungry, ostracized, ignored, powerless, lonely and depressed. He heals the sick, those with severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed. They are not the elite, powerful, wealthy, or influential. Yet Jesus promises that they are all blessed by God and then he commissions them to be salt and light! Matthew 5:1-20
