During this 4-week teaching series we will LOL as we view clips from the movie but then attempt to connect scriptural truths to help us remember the true reason for the Christmas season. - - - ✏️ MESSAGE NOTES: The angel replied to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. {Luke 1:35} The Bible confirms Jesus to be the Son of God In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. {John 1:1,14} Jesus claims to be the Son of God The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” 64 “You have said it,” Jesus told him. “But I tell you, in the future you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” 65 Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? See, now you’ve heard the blasphemy.” {Matthew 26:63-65} Jesus accepts worship Then those in the boat worshiped him and said, “Truly you are the Son of God.” {Matthew 14:33} 1: IT SPEAKS TO HIS DIVINE NATURE No one has ever seen God. The one and only Son, who is himself God and is at the Father’s side—he has revealed him. {John 1:18} 2: IT SPEAKS TO HIS ABILITY TO ABOLISH SIN “She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” {Matthew 1:21} The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!…I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” John 1:29,34} 3: IT SPEAKS TO HIS POWER OVER LIFE AND DEATH Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live.” {John 11:25} For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
