The superb, low-maintenance Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae can be used for a variety of purposes in the landscape. With characteristics that outperform both of its parents, Green Giant is a hybrid of Thuja plicata (Western Red cedar) and Thuja standishii (Japanese Arborvitae). It thrives in a larger region, the USDA hardiness zones 5 through 8, which encompasses more southern states than the range of other Arborvitae types.
