Most website owners are getting SEO savvy and have started to realize the value a backlink has. As a result, a lot of websites have now started charging to publish your content. We reach out to a lot of websites (around 2,000 a day) and have found that roughly 80% of sites will charge a fee. The amount they charge varies greatly, we've had some sites tell us it's $50 per upload, some say it's $100 and some even say it's $500 (which is crazy). There isn't a rough guide on how much sites charge, it will vary per niche, however, you'll generally find that the more authoritative the site, the more they will charge. Unfortunately, this has become the reality of SEO. However, it's not a bad thing if you change your perspective on what a backlink is. A backlink is an investment into your website. An investment that has the opportunity to pay you back tenfold. If you're serious about SEO and want to really want to compete with the sites on page 1, it's virtually impossible to avoid exchanging money for links. I wish this wasn't the case, however, it's my duty to be upfront and honest with everyone in this course. There isn't one person I know who runs an SEO agency that doesn't pay for links for their clients (ClickSlice included). Don't view a link as a link, view it as an investment into your business. Because that's ultimately what it is. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF CAPITAL If you do not have the capital to invest in backlinks, then that's not a problem. It just means you will have to spend longer finding websites that will accept guest posts for free. Another option you have is to try and figure out who owns the website, connect with them on Twitter/ Facebook/ LinkedIn and build a relationship. Once you've established a relationship with the site owner, you can ask them if they're interested in uploading a guest post to their site for free. The majority of them will say yes and you won't be viewed as a stranger they've never heard of before.
