Sincerely Paul - Week 11 - Epaphroditus' Example - Philippians 2:25-30

Is leadership just for "professional Christians?" Or is there a call for all fully devoted followers of Christ to lead in their homes, workplaces, schools, and on the block? Epaphroditus shows us how it's done! --- 📖 ABOUT THE SERIES: From a prison cell Paul writes a letter to the church in Philippi. Join us for a walkthrough of his letter and learn how we can be content in all circumstances. --- ✏️ MESSAGE NOTES: // LEADERSHIP IS NOT A POSITION YOU ACQUIRE BUT A CALLING YOU STEP INTO // LEADERSHIP IS NOT FOR THE SELECT FEW BUT THE COLLECTIVE SUM But I considered it necessary to send you Epaphroditus—my brother, coworker, and fellow soldier, as well as your messenger and minister to my need— {Philippians 2:25} Paul's description of Epaphroditus: : BROTHER There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. {Proverbs 18:24 NLT} : COWORKER : SOLDIER : MESSENGER : MINISTER // GODLY LEADERSHIP IS WORTHY OF HONOR Therefore, welcome him in the Lord with great joy and hold people like him in honor… {Philippians 2:29} // GODLY LEADERSHIP REQUIRES SACRIFICE Therefore, welcome him in the Lord with great joy and hold people like him in honor, because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up what was lacking in your ministry to me. {Philippians 2:29-30} Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. {Matthew 16:24} Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross. {Philippians 2:5-8} --- ✝️ ABOUT SWERVE: Swerve Church is a new church in the neighborhood of Bushwick in Brooklyn NYC.
