Where we come from and where we live so often leaves a mark on our characteristics. But in today's passage, Paul is going to help us see that ultimately our citizenship is not here on earth but in heaven. Our challenge this week is to live as citizens of heaven. --- ABOUT THE SERIES: From a prison cell Paul writes a letter to the church in Philippi. Join us for a walkthrough of his letter and learn how we can be content in all circumstances. --- MESSAGE NOTES For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. {Hebrews 13:14} 27 Just one thing: As citizens of heaven, live your life worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, in one accord, contending together for the faith of the gospel, 28 not being frightened in any way by your opponents. This is a sign of destruction for them, but of your salvation—and this is from God. 29 For it has been granted to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, 30 since you are engaged in the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have. {Philippians 1:27-30} How do we live as citizens of heaven? 1: WE LIVE WORTHY OF THE GOSPEL 2: WE STAND UNITED 3: WE SUFFER WELL --- Swerve Church is a new church in the neighborhood of Bushwick in Brooklyn NYC. --- Important links: Follow Jesus: swervechurch.com/congrats Next Steps: swervechurch.com/nextsteps Connection Card: swervechurch.com/cc Give: swervechurch.com/give #swervechurch #bushwick #sermonseries
