Sincerely Paul - Week 2 - How should we pray for each other?

submitted by Swerve Church on 10/07/22 1

If we could listen in to Paul's prayer for his friends in Philippi, what would we hear? Today we examine Paul's prayer and ask two questions: 1: Are we and answer to these prayers? 2: Are we praying these things for one another? --- From a prison cell Paul writes a letter to the church in Philippi. Join us for a walkthrough of his letter and learn how we can be content in all circumstances. --- MESSAGE NOTES 7 Indeed, it is right for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart, and you are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how deeply I miss all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are superior and may be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. {Philippians 1:7-11} 1: THAT LOVE, KNOWLEDGE, AND WISDOM WOULD GROW And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment… {Philippians 1:9} “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” {John 13:35} 2: THAT THEY WOULD LIVE FOR WHAT’S BETTER …so that you may approve the things that are superior and may be pure and blameless in the day of Christ… {Philippians 1:10} There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death. {Proverbs 14:12} A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. {John 10:10} 3: THAT THEY WOULD LIVE AUTHENTIC, FRUIT-FILLED LIVES …filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. {Philippians 1:11} “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” {Matthew 7:24} --- Swerve Church is a new church in the neighborhood of Bushwick in Brooklyn NYC. --- Important links: Follow Jesus: swervechurch.com/congrats Next Steps: swervechurch.com/nextsteps Connection Card: swervechurch.com/cc Give: swervechurch.com/give #swervechurch #bushwick #sermonseries
