Can I trust the Bible? How do we know that the Bible we hold in our hands is trustworthy and true? --- Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. {Matthew 24:35} 7 CONVINCING TRUTHS THAT THE BIBLE IS RELIABLE: 1: THE BIBLE IS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE For the word of the Lord is right, and all his work is trustworthy. {Psalm 33:4} HISTORICAL ACCURACY STANDARD: A: EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS B: RECORDED AND COPIED WITH EXTREME CARE C: ARCHEOLOGICAL CONFIRMATION 2: THE BIBLE IS SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE God is enthroned above the circle of the earth; its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like thin cloth and spreads them out like a tent to live in. {Isaiah 40:22} He stretches the northern skies over empty space; he hangs the earth on nothing. {Job 26:7} Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded, and they were created. He set them in position forever and ever; he gave an order that will never pass away. {Psalm 148:5-6} 3: THE BIBLE IS PROPHETICALLY ACCURATE But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds. {Isaiah 53:5} …because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. {2 Peter 1:21} 4: THE BIBLE IS THEMATICALLY UNIFIED Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, [Jesus] interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures. {Luke 24:27} 5: THE BIBLE IS TRUSTED BY JESUS For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all things are accomplished. {Matthew 5:18} 6: THE BIBLE HAS SURVIVED ATTACKS For all flesh is like grass, and all its glory like a flower of the grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this word is the gospel that was proclaimed to you. {1 Peter 1:24-25} 7: THE BIBLE HAS LIFE-CHANGING POWER Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples.
