New Roundabout, Pedestrian Tunnels Provide Safe Access for All Users

submitted by Alex Kline on 08/17/22 1

The City of Northfield, Minnesota, sought to improve a busy intersection at Highway 246 and Jefferson Parkway by converting a four-way stop into a roundabout. Four underpass tunnels were included in the design to provide safe routes for pedestrians and bikers – a necessity given the proximity to local schools. The video above features a look at the new roundabout, pedestrian tunnels and pathway, as well as clips from the City’s ribbon cutting in June 2021.
