CONTRA tv presents Create + Influence Episode 9 – Glen Baxter

submitted by JoeNative on 10/14/13 1

Over the last 20 years, Glen Baxter has been in the fashion and media limelight of Toronto's broadcasting scene. The Montreal native moved to Hog Town to study journalism and landed a gig at Much Music, kick-starting his career as an on-air reporter. Glen has been a fixture at the now defunct FashionTelevision Channel, where he hosted In Fashion from 2001 on, bringing viewers the latest news in fashion, design, and photography. You don't think about Canadian fashion-focused television without thinking Glen Baxter. Glen has reported on style from all corners of the world, at some of the most prestigious fashion events, while looking the part too, dressed almost exclusively in HUGO by Hugo Boss for 15 years. Glen is also a photographer, and has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East, camera in hand. His photos have been displayed in four solo exhibitions sponsored by Hugo Boss, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting various charities, most recently Right To Play. He also spent time visiting Right To Play's programs in the African nations of Benin and Ethiopia, where he met with volunteers and children who benefit from the organization's work. Baxter has also volunteered for the Canadian Foundation for Aids Research (CANFAR) as a Junior Committee Member for five years - where he helped raised close to half a million dollars for Aids research. Over the years, Baxter has also been a guest speaker and regular host for John Ralston Saul's Le Francais Pour L'Avenir (French for the Future), where he encouraged high school students to speak and learn French and shared his thoughts on bilingualism.
