Remember how the people sinned when Moses was up on mount Sinai? They were supposed to build a tabernacle but instead they made a golden calf to worship even after they'd promised not to make any more idols. The lord was so angry that Moses smashed the first tablets of the ten commandments and the people had to be punished. Now the people were trying to repent sometimes repentance can be a very long and painful process. For starters they needed to build the tabernacle or temple that they were supposed to build in the first place building the tabernacle would require a lot of sacrifice on the israelites part besides the actual building they needed to gather supplies the israelites had brought some things with them from egypt things like nice cloth animal furs and jewelry some of the jewelry and metals they'd used to make the golden calf but now god was asking them to give the nicest things they had left so the tabernacle could be made of the very best materials that doesn't seem fair either it might not seem fair when you think that they had to give up the only nice things they had left but when we remember that god had given them everything we can understand why they should give a little of it back and because he is our father they wanted to honor him in his tabernacle with their best possessions were the people mad that they had to give up that stuff actually they were very happy to contribute and make the effort to build the tabernacle in fact the scriptures tell us that they did so with willing hearts and that's the most important part of the story it's not always enough for us to just do what the lord asks of us it's also important how we do it if we obey him but we're angry and complaining the whole time it's not really being obedient we need to do what he asks us with a happy heart then we know and he knows that we're doing it for the right reasons i feel like you're talking about us too well do you feel like you've been doing your chore with a happy heart not really then maybe there's still part of the lesson you need to learn i guess we can try that's all any of us can do try ah okay #comefollowme #tabernacle #scriptureexplorers #churchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints #searchthescriptures #comefollowme2022 #tabernacle #lds #ldschurch #hearhim #lighttheworld #mormon
