This is a contemporary Chinese dance solo choreographed to the dancer's personal story and voice. As a Chinese American who grew up in the South, she compares the ribbon dance to a little red dragon that has taken her a long journey to embrace her cultural heritage and be confident in her own skin. In this excerpt, she speaks about performing Chinese dance at an American military base and the juxtaposition between the two cultures.
