EMERGENCY RESCUE: Papas, a dog that was shot with a gun, just arrived to our shelter for care and stabilization. This sweet boy was shot a couple of days ago and we were just able to get him to safety today, thanks to the amazing efforts of our incredible friends at Dogwood Animal Rescue Project who drove hours to save him and get him to safety. We were able to sedate him, clean the wound, get some pain meds on board and a Fentanyl patch in place, and start treatment and care. He is stable, but will need an emergency amputation of the leg that was shot in the coming days because the bullet has shattered the bones. At the end of his treatment this evening he gave us the sweetest howl and chirping vocalizations - part complaint, part thank you, part the sweet shining resilence and strength of this darling hound/cattle dog mix. We will keep you updated on Papas recovery every step of the way. Please join us in wishing this sweet boy strength and a rapid recovery. And, please consider making a donation to help us cover the cost of the extensive medical care he will need in the coming days and weeks. Compassion IS the Answer
