Have fun learning about how to make compound words. A compound word is made when two words are joined to form a new word. I show and say the first word and then show and say the second word. We put both words together to form a new compound word. This is great practice for Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes who are beginning to build the foundational language skills that today’s elementary school curriculum requires. Young children will develop their phonological awareness and phonics skills with this compound word song as they hear and see how two words make a new word. Your children will be engaged by holding up one hand at a time for each word and then clap hands together when we form the new word.
