Why are human rights defenders being targeted?
Amnesty International says scale of attacks on rights defenders around the world is gravely concerning. The rights group has launched its first global emergency fundraising appeal to help protect them. It's calling on individuals and donors to expand support. Amnesty says the aim is to counter what it calls a growing 'anti-human rights agenda'. It accuses so called- strongman leaders of increasingly spreading fear and silencing critical voices. Activists and Journalists have faced prosecution, harassment and even torture.
