June 2016 - Edinburgh Scots react to Brexit vote(25 Jun 2016) The European Union anthem 'Ode to Joy' rang out on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Saturday, two days after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.
Scotland however voted strongly to remain in the EU and the outcome of Thursday's vote is reigniting the question of Scottish independence.
Scotland voted in 2014 to remain a part of the UK, but that decision was seen by many as conditional on the UK remaining in the EU.
