Keystone RV - How To De-Winterize an RV00:00 Welcome to an RV Pro Tips episode,
00:16 Keystone RV Master Technicians Matt and Bart
explain how to De-Winterize your RV. They will walk through the steps to get your RV ready for the RV season by opening, airing it out, and de-winterizing it.
00:39 Start
with opening up windows, vents, and any exterior compartment doors to air out. Your RV may be larger with many more features to get ready but we’re going to cover the main points using a Hideout 32LBH.
01:05 How do I prepare the Water System on my RV?
Begin with the low point drains, open them until the water runs clear, and once clear go ahead and close them. Next, move on to the exterior shower conveniently located next to the water hookup. Run the exterior shower hose-first running cold water and then hot, run until the water runs clear.
Follow steps on all the faucets, turning them on one at a time until the water runs clear. (This will include the kitchen, bath, toilet, shower faucet, and showerhead.) Remember to run ALL faucets until water runs clear and no more air is sputtering out.
02:27 How do I prepare the Water Heater on my RV?
Insert the Anode Rod or tank plug first. Locate the water heater bypass, and turn the bypass off allowing the tank to begin filling. Go to the kitchen sink faucet, and turn the hot water, purging the air out of the tank. Follow this step on ALL faucets, be sure to complete it for all baths, interior/exterior showers, and any other hot water faucets like a camp kitchen.
After lines are flushed and the water heater tank is full, turn the propane tank and water heater on and let it cycle to temperature. Use this time to look around at visible water lines for any unexpected leaks. Better to be safe than surprised later!
Important Note: Water heater pressure relief valves are designed to weep when the water heater air gap has diminished over time… don’t worry it is not defective. If your valves weep regularly the water heater air gap needs to be restored.
How do I restore the air gap in my water heater?
Turn the water heater off, and verify the water supply and water pump are in the off positions. Safety first and foremost—let the water in the tank cool down to prevent you from scalding your hands. When cool, lift up the water heater relief valve and let the excess water come out until no water runs through the valve, when finished then release the lever. Your air gap is restored and ready for use again.
04:25 Now that the fresh water system is de-winterized,
take the time to test and operate all your appliances. Make certain everything is in working order. Check all safety equipment for proper operating functions. Check out our video on Safety Devices for more information or refer to your Owner’s Manual-https://youtu.be/aQLbxiOooEw.
04:45 How do I prepare the black and gray tanks?
First, fill water into them with the appropriate amount of deodorant. Remember to leave some water in the toilet, enough to cover the seal.
05:00 Your RV is almost ready.
Wipe everything down, load up your equipment, clothing, bedding, kitchen items, and everything you need to make your adventures memorable. Once everything is loaded, it is time to sweep it out.
05:25 Finish up by walking around the exterior of your RV.
Take the time to check its overall condition. Now is the perfect time to give your camper a little TLC before the season gets into full swing.
05:46 Thank you!

Today we are going to review your Keystone RV's exterior seals and show you how to maintain them. Understanding the responsibility that comes with the purchase of a new recreational vehicle can be very important. This video will help you to protect your investment.
First, maintenance is required by you the owner, more information can be found in the Keystone Owner’s Manual: Section 1and Section 13. https://www.keystonerv.com/owners-manuals
Periodically as an owner you will want to inspect your RV's sealants. You will want to do this at least twice a year thoroughly front to rear, top to bottom and more often when convenient.
We're looking for seal voids, cracks, shrinking or deteriorating from age and sun exposure. These will need to be replaced over time and may need more maintenance based on where you have traveled.
Before walking around we demonstrate using a caulk gun and applying the sealant to your RV.
Fix a seal void—we identified an area in need of repair. Follow our step-by-step demonstration using silicone to on this area.
1. Clean the area and remove any exposed silicon.
2. Using alcohol, clean the area in preparation for new silicon sealant.
3. Determine the size of the sealant bead and begin to apply silicon, overlapping the existing sealant.
4. Smooth out the new silicon sealant. Resulting in a nice, clean seal.
Inspect the roof— you will need to do the same with your roof but more often, we recommend a minimum of every 3 months for a roof inspection. NOTE—If you do not feel comfortable, or the roof itself is wet—DO NOT DO IT. We recommend a Keystone authorized service center to help in these situations.
Some commons questions answered by Master Technician while inspecting the roof:
1. Air bubbles near roof decking seams under the membrane.
2. Staples appearing to push up under roof membrane.
Fix a roof seal void— while checking the overall conditions of the roof; inspect all sealants, looking for splits, cracks, and shrinkage. With the Alpha Roof Membrane, you do not have to peel off the existing sealants, you can just repair it with self-leveling sealant.
1. Clean the area with mild soap and water in preparation for new sealant.
2. Determine which Alpha sealant to use, either Self-Leveling or Non-Sag.
3. Begin to apply sealant, overlapping the existing sealant and allow to ooze and smooth over area.
For more information on your Alpha Roof, we suggest you watch this video: Your RV Roof care and Maintenance. https://youtu.be/S8nJM50Dkd0
So now that you know how to inspect your seals with periodic inspections, you can avoid costly repair bills. Walking around your RV doing this, is the perfect time to also review additional maintenance items like lubing compartment doors, entry door locks and lubing hinges. Maintenance and regular overall cleaning of your Keystone RV put you in a better position to enjoy your RV and maintain its overall retail value for a good long while.

Keystone RV - How To Operate the SolarFlex 600i-L Solar System00:00 Keystone RV teams up with Future Solutions, sharing valuable information on the SolarFlex 600i-L System.
Learn solar basics, how to operate the system and many other features that will help you conserve and understand energy usage for your next adventure.
1:27 Solar Basics
This is a 600i-L system on a fifth wheel. The entire system will be located in the front storage compartment, whereas a travel trailer will be located in the front pass-thru compartment. Everything hooks up the same just in different areas.
1:47 Steps to start your solar system three easy steps:
1. Turn on the battery disconnect for the RV, the system gives 12-volt power to the entire coach.
2. Turn inverter disconnect to on, provides 12-volt from batteries to the inverter
3. Turn inverter switch to on, now have AC power to 120V to wired outlets and A/C.
System is operating and ready to use. RV has both 120v and DC power inside the RV.
3:03 Using Victron Connect App
Download the Victron Connect App on your mobile device. Locate your devices on the app and match up to the component list as detailed in the front of your RV. QR Code to set up Cerbo connection for Wi-Fi service. If you do not see the devices on the app, then your batteries are in protection mode or asleep, you will need to go through process of waking them up lithium batteries.
3:57 How can I monitor my energy usage?
RV is now running completely off batteries. You will want to know the standard usage of your components. App shows percentage of current charge, hours remaining and current draw. Let’s start at the In-Command panel, run slide-outs while watching the usage when running slides out and watch the draw. Set A/C on and set to cool, this will show you the increase in amps and time remaining. Lithium batteries is comparable to a math equation, example of 1000 watts being equal to an hour. You will want to pay attention to your energy consumption, it is best to understand a high usage day before adventuring out to boondock for the first time and not drawing your lithium batteries out. Watch what happens to usage once RV is plugged into shore power. Inverter switches to charging instead of inverting. There is a short delay, allowing the inverter to qualify the power/energy coming in. Energy is now being used to charge batteries. Positive numbers means you are in a state of charge.
7:42 What are the components for the 600i-L?
The 600i-L comes with the standard package of 600 watts of solar including 2-300 watt solar panels, with an additional docking port for future expansion, one GC3 DragonFly Energy Battery-270 Amp Hours, a Victron 3000 Watt Multiplus Inverter, a Victron 50 Amp SmartSolar Charge Controller, a Victron Smart Shunt and a Battery Guardian.
8:43 Can I run my A/C with the 600i-L?
No, solar doesn’t run anything, it charges the battery. It’s the inverter that runs the A/C and receptacles. Solar gets all the credit for green energy from the sun, but you need all the correct components: Inverter+Battery+Solar=Running A/C.
11:01 How can I get the most out of the sun?
Cloud, sunshine, trees, and campgrounds all affect how much energy you get. Positioning of the panels helps optimize during peak hours of sunshine. Different areas have different times. Shaded areas will not collect as much as open sunny areas, same goes for regions in the states.
12:40 How do I maintain the 600i-L System?
Panels- when the solar panel is cool, rinse with water and wipe dust and films off. DO NOT use heavy dish soaps or run cold water on a HOT panel.
13:55 Can I expand my Battery Bank?
Yes, Keystone RVs are designed to hold 2 batteries for future expansion, an additional docking port for panel expansion and a spot for an additional amp charger. Visit your local dealer to discuss expansion options and pricing to upgrade to the next level.
15:00 What do I need to do with my solar when using Long Term Storage?
Charge batteries up, shut inverter off, turn off inverter disconnect, turn off 12v disconnect battery. You are not disconnecting solar, it will be able to still charge and maintain the lithium battery.
16:00 Should I be concerned with my solar and lithium batteries when camping in colder weather?
Lithium batteries have internal heat to keep working with colder temperatures and will continue to run, however, they will not charge when temps are below freezing. However, Lithium batteries are equipped with heating elements, turning on the battery heat features will then allow the batteries to be charged.
17:10 Can I do anything I want with this solar system
No, you have to be aware of the amount of power you are using and the amount of battery storage you have available. Energy consumption is very important.
Keystone RV - How To Replace a Coleman AC Filter0:00 Disclaimer
Disclaimer: Always use caution when working on your RV. If you are uncomfortable, stop and schedule an appointment with a Keystone dealer. A professional service technician should work on safety-related items. Keystone RV is not responsible for damages or injuries that occur as a result of any of the information contained in this video.
00:17 Intro
Camp Better with cleaner air. Master Technicians, Matt and Bart walk us through the steps to replace the Coleman AC air filter in an RV and the importance of doing so at least annually.
00:43 Merv 9
Newer filters have increased filter efficiency, the Coleman AC air filter now has a minimum efficiency reporting value or a MERV 9 rating. With the increased rating, more particles in the air can be removed. Particles such as dust, dust mites, pet dander, pollen and more.
01:21 Safety First
IMPORTANT-for your safety, we recommend using a ladder to replace the filter. Remember-safety first!
01:38 Replacing the filter
Step by step guide on replacing the air filter:
Loosen the thumbscrews
Drop/lower the cover exposing the filter
Notice the direction of the replacement filter (arrows will point to the direction the filter should be placed). The filter is similar to your home as a directional replacement-air flows up into the filter to remove particles.
Remove the old filter and replace with the new one. Making certain to watch the orientation and install correctly. Again the arrow on the side of the filter is your reference for correct placement.
Move the holders back in place to hold the filter
Replace and install the cover back in place and tighten the thumbscrews.
02:32 That's it! Congratulations on changing your Coleman AC air filter.

Keystone RV - How To Replace an RV Water PumpKeystone RV Master Technicians, Matt and Bart demonstrate how RV owners can replace the water pump as a do-it-yourself project.
Before removing the water pump, it is important to verify that it needs replaced. Here are a few basic items to determine if the water pump is bad. For the water pump to function, the battery must be properly charged, there must be water in the fresh water tank and the city water hose disconnected, the pump switch (at monitor panel) must be on and a faucet must be turned on to put a demand on the system. If all of this is in order, you should hear the pump running and water should be coming out of the faucet. If this is not happening, we recommend checking the fuse in the distribution panel and if good, the pump is likely bad.
Water pumps are usually located close to the convenience center where your water hookups are located and will require removing an access panel inside the unit, or in the pass thru storage near the front. Use a Multimeter to verify there is 12 Volts to the water pump before proceeding with replacement.
Steps to remove the existing water pump:
1. Turn off the pump switch
2. Turn on the water heater bypass
3. Remove the city water connection and drain the pressure from the lines by opening and closing any cold water faucet or maybe 2.
4. Open the low point drains to get as much water out of the lines possible to avoid a mess inside when you disconnect the water lines from the pump. NOTE: If your Fresh Tank is above or on the same level of the water pump-drain the Fresh Tank prior to disconnecting water lines from the pump. If this step is skipped, water damage may occur.
5. Remove the screws holding the pump to the floor. Removing the screws now will make it easier to work on. Set them aside as we will reuse them later.
6. Using wire cutters, cut the bell cap connectors and prep the wires for the new pump, strip ½” back.
7. Unscrew the connections from the pump. (Water will still be in the hoses and pump-have towels handy). You may need some plyers to loosen these up. Once the lines are loose visually check the O-rings. First-verify they are still there and two-they are not damaged and reusable. If not you’ll need to purchase locally before reassembling.
Steps to reassemble with new water pump:
1. You may notice a strainer on the inlet side of the pump that helps keep debris out of the pump. If the new pump does not include this strainer you can the reuse strainer on the new pump. Note: not all pumps contain a strainer, it is just an added feature you may choose for your family. If yours has one, simply unthread and thread onto the new pump and it is ready to install.
2. Secure new pump to the floor and hand-tighten the water lines ¼ to1/2 turn past tight.
Strip the wire sheathing approximately ½” Reconnect the positive and negative wires to the new pump using bell caps. NOTE: It is important to clean and dry the area and water line fittings of any moisture before this next step.
3. Close the low point drains.
4. Add water to the fresh tank
5. Turn the water heater bypass off
6. Turn the water pump switch on
7. Open a faucet and check for leaks at both water line fittings. Use shop towels or some paper towel and even your fingers to check for leaks at the fittings.
8. Close the faucet, the pump should reach pressure and turn off.
9. Check for leaks again at both water line fittings. If there are no leaks, re-install the access panel and your good to go.
That is all there is to it! Just a simple way we can help you camp better and stay out in the wild.

Keystone RV - How To Set Up a Tire Pressure Monitor System -TPMS- on your RVMaster Technician, Bart Taylor is joined with Adam Peterson of Truck System Technologies, they demonstrate how easy it is to set up your new TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring System on your RV. Follow along with the guys as they set up this RV and TST monitoring system.
Steps to complete system and tire sequence on your RV for the TPMS system:
1. Remove the screen protector and then turn on the monitor.
2. Hold SET it until it beeps.
3. Once it beeps, hit the PLUS five (5) times.
4. Press and release the SET.
5. You are ready to build the tires of the tow vehicle and trailer. A good rule of thumb, the bottom is going to be your driver's side. The top will be your passenger side. To navigate between tires, hit the PLUS button.
6. The first rectangle is going to be your tow vehicle. The back will be your trailer. Hit PLUS until you get to the trailer.
7. Choose any tire. Personal preference on using inside or outside tires, in this demonstration we use the inside.
8. Press and release SET. Move the monitor close to the tire sidewall, placing it 180 degrees from the valve stem. Press GO. (Monitor will pick up code).
9. Press SET to save and lock in values.
10. Repeat steps to move from each tire. Remember to do ALL tires, including the spare tire.
11. Once all are programed, hit the BACK twice (2 times) to get back to the home screen.
One trick recommended, imagine the monitor like your mirrors. Bottom set is your driver's side and the passenger side will be the top. So whenever programing the sensors just make sure to keep the passenger tires on the top and the driver's side on the bottom. Once monitor has been programed, home view will have all tires on the screen with the temperature and pressure reading in the box.

Keystone RV - How To Winterize Your RV - Version 2How to winterize your RV is a common question for many owners. Our customer service team takes you through the 9 simple steps to get it done yourself.
Keystone RV - Understanding How a Tankless Water Heater WorksWith advancements in technology—the RV industry is starting to see a trend to tankless water heaters and Keystone RV is going all in!
There are several advantages of using a tankless water heater:
1. Conservation of energy usage.
2. Hot water on demand-no recovery/heating period creating endless supply.
3. Increased control of temperature setting of water.
4. Off-grid capability, runs on very low amp draw and propane gas.
Master Technicians, Matt and Bart share some additional efficiencies when using tankless water heaters. They answer some frequently asked questions.
1. Since there is not a water tank-does this change my process for winterization of my RV?
The water heater bypass valves for winterizing are no longer needed, this saves you a step in winterizing your RV.
2. What are some key tips I need to know on using a tankless water heater system?
The rate of flow affects the temperature of the water as it is heated. For example… if you have the kitchen sink hot faucet turned fully on, the water has less time to heat as it is passing thru the heater. If you reduce the faucet flow you can maximize the heating of the water being used. Think of it this way…if you increase water flow you will have reduced water temperature…if you decrease the water flow you raise the temperature. You can also turn on the cold water with the hot to achieve the desired temperature.
3. Should I be concerned if the RV park has low water pressure? How will this affect my system?
City water connections at RV parks can have low or varying water pressure. If this condition occurs and cannot be resolved, then we recommend filling the fresh water tank and using the onboard water pump.
4. If the system is "On-Demand", does that mean I will have HOT water instantly?
Great question and the answer is NO. The tankless water heater must see a demand on the system before it turns on to heat. Turning on a hot water faucet allows the water heater to sense the demand. Which starts the water flow, ignites the burner, and then begins heating the water as it passes thru. Just like a traditional water heater, you will run the cold water out of the line till the hot water presents itself. The difference is, you get an endless supply of hot water and the burner turns off when the water is shut off. Unlike a traditional tank where the burner continues to run till the tank of water reaches its preset temperature and turns on and off multiple times a day to maintain that temp when it’s not being used.
Keystone RV listens to your camping needs and how you wish to camp better. With the added features and benefits of installing tankless water heaters, you now have more time with hotter water to enjoy your shower, regardless of how many campers are in your RV.

Keystone RV - Understanding RV Monitor PanelsWelcome to another Keystone RV First Time Camper Series video. We are going to discuss monitor panels. What they control, how to read them and how they work.
Depending on which Keystone brand you own, or one you are looking to purchase, be aware there are many different styles of monitor panels. They can range from a very simple panel to a more extensive panel with many features. It is best to become familiar with your monitor panel before heading out on any adventures.
Battery—First lets look at the battery. Your RV has a battery or batteries providing 12 volt power to the RV, the monitor will show the state of charge. The range is displayed in Low, Fair, Good, or Charged as indicated by the following letters. If- you have an iN-Command panel, it will show voltage instead of a range.
Holding Tanks—Next, we will look at the holding tanks. The monitor will show the levels of liquid inside the holding tanks for Black, Grey and Fresh water. The range is displayed in thirds, from empty, one-third, two-thirds and full. When checking tank levels a good indicator a tank may need to be cleaned will be the level stays the same even after dumping. Time for a good cleaning! For more information on holding tanks-watch video Understanding your RV Holding Tanks https://youtu.be/Qu2UEKlCcZ0.
Water Pump—Moving on, we have the water pump switch. The water pump uses the fresh water in the fresh water holding tank. This turns it on and off when you don't have access to city water. If you are on city water-do not use the water pump. Check out video on Water Supply for more information. https://youtu.be/Sw4AFnMOSBY.
Water Heater—Finally, is the water heater switch for the gas/electric water heater. This switch will turn the water heater on and off for gas and/or electric. Sometimes the switch will be mounted in its own location, models will vary depending on equipment.
Note—It is also a must to have a fully charged battery to provide the adequate voltage for the monitor panel to work correctly.
We hope this video will help you understand your equipment and give you many years of enjoyment out there. For more information, check out the other First Time Camper Series Videos.
