My 2nd hike up to the summit of Mount Sinai and down in the dark (February 25, 2017)On February 25, 2017 me and 3 friends attempted to climb to the southern ridge/peaks of Mount Sinai (Jabal Maqla). Two of us made it but we stayed up there too long and it took us 5 hours to come down in the dark. Thankfully we safely made it back though very hungry and tired. Website: https://DiscoveredSinai.com
My camping trip to the summit of Mount Sinai in Arabia (Jabal Maqla)On April 23-24, 2018 a group of explorers climbed to the northern highest peak of Jabal Maqla - the real Mount Sinai in NW Saudi Arabia in the Tabuk Province. I was able to camp overnight on the highest peak and the next day we all hiked the southern ridge of Jabal Maqla and down to the plateau and even some to the marble quarry and the Cave of Elijah. I had lost my voice from being super sick so please forgive the narration haha. A day later we returned to the base of Mount Sinai and from above the cow petroglyph site that we believe is the location of the Golden Calf incident we watched as a storm came rolling in. We saw lightning hit the mountain and heard thunder echo through the area. Just a taste of what it was like to hear God speak the Ten Commandments 3500 years ago. What a special trip! Exodus 24:1-2
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off. 2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
Then the LORD descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and placed the Spirit on the 70 elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they never did it again.
*According to 1Kings 6:1, the exodus took place 480 years before "the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel." Since that year was c. 966 b.c., it has been traditionally held that the exodus occurred c. 1446.
Wadi WatirLooking up the dry river bed that is the only large opening onto the beach from the Sinai Peninsula interior. The Israelites turned off the trade route with Midian and turned back and went down this dry river bed now called Wadi Watir and it led to the huge beach area today known as Nuweiba where God performed one of the greatest miracles of the Old Testament! Wadi Watir meets the Gulf of AqabaAll the trash and junk from the Sinai and Wadi Watir comes out here into the gulf. It stank pretty bad in this area. This is where Wadi Watir meets the Gulf of Aqaba at the Red Sea crossing. From our May 2016 trip there. Website: https://DiscoveredSinai.com
