Nadat hij in januari zijn 15e collectie in Parijs showde, gaf couture designer Sepehr Maghsoudi tijdens de Paris Couture week van juli 2017 opnieuw acte de présence.
Op 1, 2 en 3 juli presenteerde hij zijn nieuwste collectie “Light” in een eigentijds pand, gesitueerd in de voor modeprofessionals befaamde Parijse wijk Le Marais.
Door deze 16e collectie in de vorm van een expositie te tonen, gaf Maghsoudi zijn publiek alle gelegenheid om de ontwerpen uitgebreid en van dichtbij te kunnen bewonderen: schitterende handgemaakte designs, getuigend van puur vakmanschap.
Inspiratie voor deze collectie vond Sepehr wederom in een herinnering aan zijn jeugd in Perzië: “Toen ik jong was speelden we vaak verstoppertje in een groot veld met hoge grasstengels. De lange sprieten omhelsden je. Als je omhoog keek dan zag je het zonlicht nog. Maar tussen de enorme halmen was het donker om je heen…Het lichaam valt uiteen, transcendeert naar een andere dimensie…In deze donkere tijden zijn we op zoek naar licht.”
Feeërieke, fragiel ogende designs, gemaakt van parelmoerachtig schitterende zachtroze stoffen. Designs in aardse kleuren, met authentieke prints in een krachtig geometrisch patroon dat naar boven toe lijkt op te lossen. Oogstrelende applicaties van veren, ingenieus 3D borduurwerk, zwevend boven de ondergrond, met latex bewerkt breisel, verduisterende halo’s, massieve kraagstukken en maskers van keramiek.
Parijs had de primeur maar nu Sepehr terug is hopen we deze opzienbarende collectie binnenkort in Nederland te kunnen bewonderen!
Sepehr Maghsoudi is een Nederlandse modeontwerper van Perzische komaf. Zijn collecties weerspiegelen zijn levendige persoonlijkheid, zijn voorkeur voor experiment en zijn grote liefde voor vakmanschap. Zijn werk is futuristisch, elegant, vernieuwend en constructief.
In 2008 startte Sepehr in Nederland met zijn eigen merk. De 15 collecties die hij in de afgelopen 8 jaar heeft gemaakt trokken wereldwijd de aandacht. Tijdens de vorige Couture week Parijs in januari 2017, betoverde Sepehr Parijs met een sprankelende en innovatieve 15e collectie.
Sepehr heeft ontwerp en styling verzorgd voor diverse artiesten en beroemdheden. Hij won tweemaal de Edgar Vos Couture prijs, was in 2012 Fashion Designer van het Jaar en had tentoonstellingen van zijn werk in het Westfries Museum in Hoorn (NL). Geselecteerd als meest getalenteerde jonge designer viel hem de eer ten deel om het Nederlandse Koningspaar te mogen ontmoeten.
Sepehr ontwierp voor het MTV programma “My Super Sweet Sixteen” en nam deel aan “Project Catwalk (Runway)” en “The Face”. Met zijn kostuumontwerpen voor de Nederlandse films “Heksen bestaan niet” en “Fashion Chicks” gaf hij opnieuw blijk van zijn ongekende talent. Zijn werk kreeg wereldwijd publicaties in bladen als Vogue Italy, Elle, Esquire, Razor Red, Zink Magazine.

Manish Arora Fall/Winter 2017: Cosmic LoveIn celebration of his tenth anniversary, Autumn Winter 2017 sees Manish Arora take us on a visual journey that spans from the tribes of Africa into the outer reaches of the cosmos. Tribal geometrics are patch-worked onto denim tunics and bell-bottoms or fashioned into swirling velvet applique on silver silk organza dresses and drapes.
An optical illusion peacock embroidery of glittering golds and greens teems across sweeping gowns and tiered evening dresses. Flaming comets blaze across quilted satin bombers and whirling planets orbit through midnight blue and violet universes.
African textures of boiled wool patchwork on oversize bombers and waistcoats, and raw plastics on woven bags and chokers, contrast against the opulence of rich velvet sweatshirts and silk twill trousers and skirts. Astrological embroidery of shooting stars and golden sunrays adorn silk crepe drawstring dresses and cropped denim jackets.
Ethnic inspired Aztec prints converge with Art Deco patterns in a vibrant medley of mustard, tangerine, fuchsia and royal blue on floaty wrap dresses and Dupion silk trouser suits. Giant Swarovski emblazoned paisleys sweep across the front of burgundy tunic dresses and floor length silk velvet gowns, and intricately embroidered heavenly bodies align in glittering galaxies for a stellar forecast full of cosmic love.
