The PS22 Chorus delivers big time on this New York anthem by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys! Props to Dominique & Messale for amazing jobs on the lead vocals & rap (respectively). And of course to Ethan for a well-deserved happy dance at the song's conclusion.
We based our version more on the Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind Part II," but as a tribute to Jay-Z version, the kids and I created our own little rap that obviously was a bit more age appropriate.
2010 is proving to be an extremely prolific year for the PS22 Chorus! Look for them in February on the Tyra Banks Show!
Here's a fantastic song by Phoenix, and a fantastic rendition by the PS22 Chorus of 2010! I love this point in the year. The kids pick stuff up really quick -- only two rehearsals to get this performance! And you know the kids are coming into their own when every new video posted becomes a new favorite! Btw, this is my new favorite.....
The PS22 Chorus of 2011 takes on Eminem in this astounding acoustic version of "I'm Not Afraid!" The kids bring a whole new meaning to the song with their reinvention of this modern hip hop classic! Jonathon and Brianna ("Krispy Kreme") do an incredible job on their respective solo parts, and Marquis takes to the drums again to give it that extra punch! Definitely a new favorite!!

The kids have a blast, lame pun intended, with Katy Perry's "Firework" at Friday's press conference, promoting PS22's upcoming appearance at the Oscars! Denise does a fantastic job standing in for an absent-from-school-that-day Kurria!

Hang on to your seats folks... The PS22 Chorus of 2012 is officially in the house, as we present this absolutely soul-stirring version of "Set Fire To The Rain" by the beautiful Adele! Of course, major accolades must go to our soloist, Kiarah, who on her first solo of the year just completely knocks it out of the park! For long time PS22 fans, you will most likely appreciate knowing that Kiarah is the niece of 2004 chorus legend Deon ("Ain't No Mountain High Enough"), which kind of explains things.... She chose the song herself and sang it for me yesterday just before rehearsal. Her rendition was so compelling that we were forced to drop everything on our agenda at rehearsal yesterday in order to create this performance. The new chorus members equally blew me away here as well, learning their respective parts in literally one half an hour before the recording! Sometimes the best things in life happen spontaneously, and we think you'll agree this video illustrates the point perfectly...

There was no way the PS22 Chorus of 2013 was not going to have a blast tackling "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers -- such a fun song!! What WAS somewhat surprising, was just how quickly the kids would make a success of it.... Here is yet another song this prolific new group of fifth graders learned in only one rehearsal! Special thanks to Mr. Eberle for joining in on the mandolin, and as always, Ms. Lisa for filming!!

I've loved this song ever since I first heard it, but I only love it more now that the PS22 Chorus kids did their thing with it. Here is "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John! Soloist Alicea (with a cold no less) and the chorus are perfect with just the right feel for this one, and learned it super-quick too! Definitely one of this year's personal favorites for me, though admittedly that's becoming quite a list... Wonderful also to have 2009 chorus member Samantha (soloist on "Let There Be Peace On Earth", "Maoz Tsur", & "Tattoo") sit in with us for this! And of course ANY YouTube video with a singing Spider-man has just got to be worth the watch, no?
What a treat to be visited by PS22 Chorus of 2012 soloist Kiarah! And while we wished she could stay, we had her do the next best thing -- sing it! Check out Kiarah leading the PS22 Chorus of 2013 on a beautiful version of "Stay" by Rihanna!
The PS22 Chorus of 2009 has some fun with Coldplay's Grammy nominated song Viva La Vida, the amazing new hit single from the album of the same name. Hope it sweeps the Grammies! I love watching them sing this one, and it has kind of a different sound and feel on the guitar than the previously posted piano and acapella versions, so I thought it merited YouTubeage.... :)
April sings the solo and sounds better than ever on this one.
