GoPro: Longest Jump Story"When I woke up the morning of jump day, I called my wife and told her that I had a bad feeling. I've traveled the world for motorsports and seen hundreds of crashes - multiple car pile ups at high speeds, race cars rolling end-over-end, sometimes on fire."
James Kirkam, the 4 Wheel Motor Sports Creative Team Leader for GoPro Original Productions, wrote of the experience on the scene that day.
Professional skier and rally driver Guerlain Chicherit attempted to beat the world record for longest ramp car jump. The result was not what he had hoped for (min:sec that starts the teaser video), and the video that came from it was not just a crash video.
"The life of a professional stunt athlete is rarely without consequences," James explains. "We see them fall, crash, get hurt and, yes, sometimes they die. But what we captured inside of Guerlain's car was very different than a crash video -- it was a deeply ethereal, intimate human experience. We captured 'that moment' - A look on a man's face and a light in his eyes when he realizes, 'this is it. I am going to die'. Three or four seconds that seem like minutes, without time. Where I expected to see fear, panic, contortion, and pain, Guerlain shows us a deep existential calm."
It was a record of one man confronting his own mortality, and ultimately experiencing a moment of what we can only describe as grace.

Même s'ils continuent de rider dans le coin, ça faisait un moment que le crew n'avait plus sorti de vidéo. L'un des réalisateurs de l'équipe, Bulus (qui entre temps a filmé pour Homies) a décidé de remettre l'esprit 2602 au goût du jour. This segment shows five minutes and thirty seconds of Sage Catabriga-Alosa flossing insane spine lines in Alaska. Sage has come a long way since he first started filming lines with TGR under the tutelage of Jeremy Nobis back in 2002, and he has without a doubt earned his place on the starting line of TGR’s 2013 ski film. He crushes lines to the tune of “DTV” by Natural Child while being filmed with the most sophisticated 4K aerial cinema system in the world. But it goes without saying that Sage wasn’t the only talented skier on this year’s crew. Freeskier survived avalanche accident with ABS AirbagFreeskier Aymar Navarro was at a film shoot in the Spanish Pyrenees when he suddenly triggered a massive avalanche.
A camera team around Nil Torremocha from bumpyfilms.com was supposed to capture Freeski material for a TV commercial for a car brand. The conditions seemed to be perfect when spanish fresskier Aymar Navarro began his descent from top of 2,802-meter high Tuc de Barloguera.
The camera crew filmed his ride from the helicopter flying above him when suddenly the snow started to move and Aymar was caught by a massive avalanche. The 24-year old survived the accident with luck and his avalanche airbag.
We want to clarify that the most important thing is to avoid an avalanche in the first place. But even when you are well trained and informed there is always a residual risk. In case something goes wrong it is important to be as good equipped as possible. An avalanche is always a life threatening situation and you should never take a higher risk.

Circle - White Peaks Riders"Circle" est le premier film de notre tout jeune 'crew' complètement amateur nommé White Peaks Riders. Un crew composé de jeunes adolescents et/ou jeunes adultes suisses qui ont pour point commun de porter un grand amour pour leurs chaussures de skis. C'est pourquoi, dès que l'occasion se présente, nous sautons ensemble à pieds joints dans nos godasses (depuis quelques saisons déjà) et dévalons des pentes plus ou moins enneigées, plus ou moins raides, de manière plus ou moins académique, dans des endroits plus ou moins fréquentés en Suisse. Mais un jour, il ne nous a plus suffit de simplement descendre en bas des montagnes. Dans une société de consommation où les chaussures de skis sont reines, on s'est dit qu'en tant que bon capitalistes, il fallait faire comme tout le monde et les mettre en valeurs (nos chaussures), les montrer au monde entier. Nous leurs devons bien ça. Dotés d'une caméra, nous avons dès lors filmé les exploits de nos chaussures durant une saison plutôt pas mal niveau conditions. En résulte "Circle" (pour être dans les normes américaines): un petit film de plus de 6 minutes (tout de même) où vous vous exclamerez plutôt par des "Ah c'est beau" que des "M A L A D E ! Le run de bison !". Cela est uniquement dû au monteur du film. Nous nous en excusons. C'est un jeune insouciant mal à l'aise dans ses chaussures de skis, mais qui, hanté par une âme d'artiste, porte un amour surdimensionné à l'image noir et blanc, à l'esthétisme simple et aux formes géométriques (telles le cercle et les bisons). Back to the roots. Tout ça pour dire que nous sommes simplement une bande de jeunes délinquants drogués qui aimons le ski et ses films. Alors on s'est dit qu'on allait faire un film de ski. Et le voilà, ce film de ski !
