The VaChina Monologues 来自阴道The Chinese Department of Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou) staged the Chinese debut of "The Vagina Monologues" in December 2003. Since then, this feminist play, which came from the US and has been committed to the elimination of gender-based violence, has incited a vagina hurricane that blew all over mainland China.
Zhihe Society of Fudan University, Shanghai Beaver Club, Beijing Bcome Group, all these different crews performed this play in various ways. On campuses they performed, in theatres they performed, in cafes they performed, on the streets they performed, and on public transportation they performed. The Vagina Monologues received many Chinese names: Cloudy Vagina, Our Vaginas, OurSelves, and For Vagina's Sake. All these names have the same so-called "ear-piercing" key word—VAGINA.
"Vagina. I've said it", this is a speaking process as well as an acting process; this is a self-awakening process as well as a public-accepting process; this is a learning-recognizing process as well as a localizing process. After ten years, we revisit the stories of vaginas. We talk to the participants, visit current actors and listen to their vagina stories.

Stories that matter from Where Love Is Illegal | Robin Hammond | TEDxUniversityofNicosiaDespite gains made in many parts of the world, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people are, in some regions, increasingly persecuted and denied basic human rights. Bigotry thrives where we are silenced by fear. Therefore, in this TEDx University of Nicosia talk Robin Hammond shares stories of discrimination and survival; stories that matter from where love is illegal. Stories that need to be heard.
Robin Hammond is the recipient of the W.Eugene Smith Fund for Humanistic Photography, a World Press Photo prize, the Pictures of the Year International World Understanding Award and four Amnesty International awards for Human Rights journalism. He is also a foreign policy 2015 global thinker for championing forbidden lives of LGBT around the world.
Robin Hammond has dedicated his career to documenting human rights and development issues around the world through long-term photographic projects.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

“In the Shadows of Democracy: LGBTIQ Rights in Uganda”In a human rights situation that has captured global attention, a majority of African countries have anti-homosexuality laws in place, some of which go so far as to punish offenders with life imprisonment or the death penalty. The Ugandan government, in particular, has faced widespread criticism for its passage in 2009 of an anti-homosexuality bill and the violence against sexual minorities that ensued. Yet the question of African legal discrimination against LGBTIQ citizens also carries an international component: there is no verifiable record of African laws against homosexuality predating colonization. Yet the values promoted by these colonial laws were internalized over the years as inherently African and their source was forgotten. In a cruel twist of history, current leaders across the continent now view promotion of LGBTIQ rights as a tool of neo-colonialism. In his presentation, Pepe Julian Onziema analyzed the socio-economic changes in Africa, and Uganda in particular, that have accompanied the rise of homophobia and transphobia. He provided recommendations for a locally rooted movement to protect LGBTIQ citizens and empower them to claim full citizenship. Wade McMullen moderated the discussion.

Introducing the Humanitarian Data ExchangeWe are excited to launch a new humanitarian data platform -- the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX). Creating a place for humanitarians to find and share data has been a long-standing goal of our community. The need has been referenced in many lessons learned and policy papers. Thanks to the engagement of early users, the commitment of our donors and the support of critical partners, we have made an initial step forward.
Check our website to find out more about the HDX platform: http://hdx.rwlabs.org
Diversity & Inclusion – Love Has No Labelshttp://lovehasnolabels.com/
While the vast majority of Americans consider themselves unprejudiced, many of us unintentionally make snap judgments about people based on what we see—whether it’s race, age, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability. This may be a significant reason many people in the U.S. report they feel discriminated against. Subconscious prejudice—called “implicit bias”—has profound implications for how we view and interact with others who are different from us. It can hinder a person’s ability to find a job, secure a loan, rent an apartment, or get a fair trial, perpetuating disparities in American society. The Love Has No Labels campaign challenges us to open our eyes to our bias and prejudice and work to stop it in ourselves, our friends, our families, and our colleagues. Rethink your bias at lovehasnolabels.com.
