11-8-1984 - Michael Jordans 7th career NBA game and first game in Madison Square Garden. Showing his athleticism, Jordan provides many highlights on route to 33 pts, 8 rebs, 5 asts.
Michael Jordan 1984: 45pts Vs. Spurs (MJ's First 40+pt Gm)This was MJ's first truly great NBA game. In just his 9th game as a pro, rookie MJ would take over a game due to necessity and dominate with his athleticism and will. While this became MJ's first 40+ pt game (in his career of 217 40+ games), this really should have been a 55pt game because MJ missed a few easy layups and free throws which were uncharacteristic of him. But throughout the game, his knack for the big play and spectacular drama occurred in the most crucial moments. With phenomenal moves, hang-time jumpers and an innate ability to create, young MJ took over the league by storm and this was the beginning.

Celtics vs. Bulls - Feb 22, 1985 (Rookie Jordan and L. Bird)February 22, 1985.
Rookie Jordan and the Bulls go against Bird and the Celtics. The Bulls are the visiting team here . The game is played at Hartford Center instead of Boston Garden.
Jordan is quiet in the first three quarters and rarely shoots the ball. Then comes alive in the 4th. He finishes with 26 pts and 15 of those come in the final quarter. He also have 7 asts, 4rbs, 3 stls.
Bird is red hot from the beginning and has 30 pts at the end of third. Finishes with 34.
Towards the end of the game they missed a Jordan layup while they were showing a Bird replay. They never showed the replay of that Jordan basket.
Red Auerbach briefly talks about Jordan at halftime.
Post game quotes are not available for this one, but there are a few notes from the game.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)Larry Bird scored a game-high 34 points, Kevin McHale had 24 and Robert Parish added 23 Friday night as the Boston Celtics held off Chicago in the fourth quarter and sent the Bulls to their 11th straight road defeat, 115-105.
The Celtics, who held on to their half-game lead over the Philadelphia 76ers in the Atlantic Division, led by 16 entering the fourth quarter. But, with rookie sensation Michael Jordan scoring 15 of his 26 points in the period, Chicago cut the lead to four with 1:25 remaining. Jordan leads the Bulls in every statistical category this season.
The Celtics, who have not lost this season when they've gone into the fourth quarter with a lead, did not let their record get tarnished.

Jordan scores 28 points, most of which appear here - he hits on an amazing under the basket reverse lay-in and throws down a few jams for good measure. This game was played on March 9, 1985.
Enjoy.

Michael Jordan vs Hawks 1985 - Fearless rookieYoung Michael displaying his athleticism and ability to finish with either hand.
Michael Jordan 1985 Playoffs: Gm 3 Vs. Bucks, 35pts (RARE)And so began MJ's legacy as the greatest playoff performer there ever will be, which, of course, is the main reason why he is the greatest there ever will be. Although we had already seen MJ perform his miracles on the college and Olympic level, this was MJ's first great NBA playoff game - a game in which he dominated by balancing the fine line between individual aggressiveness and team chemistry.
MJ mixed up intense attacks to the rim while doing all of the dirty work - setting hard screens, flying for loose balls, cutting and creating for his teammates, making all the right passes, playing non-stop, hard defense and doubling everything in the clutch. With the game tied with a great Bucks team, rookie MJ took over in the last 7 minutes with 13 of his 35 points and ruthless defense to save the Bulls from a sweep and elimination.
The many layers of MJ's greatness in their early stages were all here. But most importantly, the ability to raise his game when it absolutely had to be raised was on full display. And, it was rewarded with MJ's first game-winner in the real season - a harbinger of the enormous and impossible achievements he would attain in the years to come.
