Armed with two BRIT’s nominations for Best Single and Best Video, Sigma, aka Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie, have revealed their first release for 2015, ‘Higher’, featuring Labrinth. ‘Higher’ will be premiered this Friday (16/01/15) across radio and will be released on 22 March; the track will precede a further single and their debut artist album entitled, ‘Life’ (expected early summer).
2014 was Sigma’s most successful year to date, capped with their first TV live performances at the BBC Music Awards and the Christmas Day edition of Top Of The Pops, plus their appearance at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball and a co-headline slot at UKF’s New Year’s Eve event at Brixton Academy.
They were the only group in 2014 to have back-to-back No.1 singles in the form of ‘Nobody To Love’ and ‘Changing’ (featuring Paloma Faith), with both shifting over 100,000 copies in their first week. Sigma have now sold 1.75 million singles worldwide in just 10 months, gone Platinum in the UK (‘NTL’) and Gold for ‘Changing’ in Germany, and Benelux, and Platinum in Australia and New Zealand (‘NTL’). They’ve hit 432,844 worldwide radio plays and reached a radio audience of 1 billion, and held the UK TV Airplay Chart No.1 spot for 11 weeks combined. ‘Nobody To Love’ recently became the first drum & bass track to hit 100 million YouTube views, with the tally for both singles fast approaching 120 million.
2015 festival bookings include Snowbombing, Future Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival. These follow 2014 shows across the UK, Europe, USA and Australia, including two sold out dates at Ministry of Sound, Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Ibiza Rocks and Bestival.
With stunning vocals from Labrinth, ‘Higher’ also sees Sigma once again collaborating with UK songwriting giants TMS and Wayne Hector (with whom they made ‘Changing’).
Outside of their own releases, Sigma have shored up their reputation as an in demand remix duo, with 2014 mixes for the likes of Kiesza (‘Hideaway’), Route 94 (‘My Love’), Clean Bandit (‘Extraordinary’), DJ Fresh (‘Dibby Dibby Sound’) and DJ Zinc (‘Show Me’).
Leeds University alumni – alongside Rusko – Sigma met while balancing raving and studying, working in record shops and promoting events to top up their student loans. Early releases with Hospital Records, Viper, Bingo and DJ Fresh’s Breakbeat Kaos, as well as their own Life Recordings, quickly marked them out as producers to watch, while remixes for Eric Prydz, Ellie Goulding, Stylo G and Sway began to take them to a wider audience.

Kenneth Bron, oftewel Kenny B, ofwel de Surinaamse zanger met de meeste nummer één hits in eigen land heeft zijn nieuwe album af. Na diverse succesvolle albums in het Engels, Aucaans en Sranantongo stapt Kenny B over op het Nederlands. Kenny B zingt al vanaf zijn achtste. Een tijd voerde hij de band ‘Fransisco’ aan en maakte hij muziek in de toneelgroep van het Surinaamse leger, ‘Mofo'. Op zijn 28e kwam Kenny B naar Nederland. Maar zijn succesvolle carrière zorgde ervoor dat hij regelmatig in het buitenland en nog veel vaker in Suriname te vinden was.
Toch mag Kenny een muzikale laatbloeier genoemd worden. Pas sinds 2006 heeft de muziek zijn volledige aandacht. Het ging gelijk als een speer en twee van zijn albums werden overzees zelfs tot het beste van dat jaar gekroond. “Ik wilde mezelf eerst in het Engels en Surinaams in de spotlight zetten”, aldus Kenny B. “De overstap naar Nederlandstalig heeft altijd in mijn hoofd gespeeld, maar dat heb ik lang afgehouden. Kom je in het Engels niet beter weg met bepaalde woorden en uitdrukkingen?”
Kenny B stond al op de radar van Top Notch baas Kees de Koning. Op vakantie in Suriname, was er helemaal geen ontkomen meer aan. “Je hoorde bijna niets anders in Paramaribo. Uit elke auto en bar klonken zijn hits. Ik raakte geïntrigeerd en ben naar de bekende platenzaak Disco Amigo gegaan en heb er zijn cd’s gekocht. Toen ik terug was in Nederland heb ik gelijk met Kenny afgesproken.” Onder de indruk van zijn invalshoeken en de thematiek van de liedjes vroeg De Koning de zanger om een aantal van zijn teksten te vertalen naar het Nederlands. “Zes weken lang hoorde ik niets meer van hem en toen stuurde hij ineens twee gloednieuwe liedjes. Ik werd helemaal weggeblazen en een week later hadden we een deal.”
Kenny’s single ‘Parijs’ is vanaf vandaag verkrijgbaar via iTunes en streamingdiensten.

Artist Bio:
The New Division is an electronic band based in Southern California. Founded by John Glenn Kunkel in 2008 in the city of Riverside, CA The New Division began as a college bedroom project. In 2011 their first E.P., "The Rookie" was released and met with critical success. Shortly thereafter in the fall of 2011, The New Division released their first full length titled, "Shadows." Not only did this album contain a number tracks that garnered them a wider and broader fan base, but was also named as "album of the year" by several blogging websites.
In 2012 marked a new era for The New Division with their second E.P., "Night Escape." This album featured a collaboration with the Greek Balearic outfit, Keep Shelly in Athens. "Night Escape," marked a shift in The New Division's song craft as it featured lush-full melodies, and brighter tones. "Kids," the second track from this E.P. became an instant success, charting the number one spot on Hypem.com.
By 2014, The New Division released their sophomore LP, "Together We Shine," which was the culmination of two years of hard work and utter chaos. What was initially to be a follow up to 2011's "Shadows" was completely discarded, and a new vision that infused with trance, progressive house and an array of other electronic dance genres was appropriated in the project's signature sound. One year into production, John Glenn Kunkel's hard drive was completely shredded and all of his backs up files were error ridden-- he was back to square one. Frustrated, dejected and in the midst of abandoning the album, he decided to give the writing process one more try. This collection of 11 tracks, featuring appearances by Dave Keuning (The Killers) on Smile, Starflyer 59 on Honest, and Sarah (Keep Shelly in Athens) on England, is the realization of that endeavor.

Manchester dance collective MDNGHT have unveiled their new single – an incredible Steve Osborne (New Order, Perfecto, Depeche Mode) rework of ‘Into The Night’. The track showcases the band’s unique blend of mesmerising celestial house mixed with Balearic beats and disco. The single is out September 25th on MUK Records.
With soaring male falsetto vocals led by frontman J, the group’s bewitchingly hypnotic sound draws from a diverse range of influences ranging from the classic soul and disco of Chic, the pop-funk of Kool & the Gang, to contemporary dance artists and producers such as Booka Shade, Claude VonStroke and Eats Everything. Their genre shifting sonic has led to 100s of thousands of streams of their music online, taking to the stage at last year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend and tips for huge things from the likes of The Guardian, Popjustice, Hunger and BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens who declared “don’t be surprised to hear ‘Into The Night’ break worldwide in 2015.”
The band gear up for the release of their new single with performances at the first Manchester City game against Chelsea FC on Sunday August 16th and Manchester Pride on August 29th.
