The Secret Weapon To Exposure | Free False Color LUTHow to get the best exposure in the color grade with free LUT.
https://cinemagrade.com
I remember the first time I attempted to open the video scopes... I promptly closed the window deciding they were too difficult for me to understand.
Little did I know how useful they would become in improving the look of my films and helping my color grading to stand out.
I recall having to force myself to learn and try to understand what they were showing me. It took some time but I eventually began to grasp what they were revealing to me about my images.
And then this one day early in my career I was using a Marshall monitor on set and I discovered that it had a special function button that turned on the "False Colors."
I thought what the hell is this? Pasted on one side of the monitor was a sticker guide showing various colors with numerical values and I soon came to realize that what I was actually seeing was my exposure levels represented as colors!!!
e.g. red for clipped or "blown-out" highlights, purple for crushed blacks and skin tones in the green and pink areas.
I was like, "what!?!" How simple is this that I can use this feature as a part of my cinematography to improve the look of my films by getting the proper brightness and contrast in my films?
From then I was really hooked and the quality of my films took off. I came to love this feature so much so and based on popular opinion we introduced False Color into our popular plugin for Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve 16 and Final Cut Pro X on the Mac.
Get False Color and direct on screen grading with Cinema Grade:

Color Grading in Premiere Pro CC - Get Pro Film LookColor grading in Premiere Pro CC to get a pro film look
https://www.colorgradingcentral.com/color-grading-in-premiere-pro-cc
If you you're looking to make the look of your films standout and get your career to the next level but struggle with the color grading aspect... let this tutorial help you finally feel like you have a good grasp on making your images to look the way that you want them to and get a pro film look!
I have been where you have been and so I know that it can seem intimidating with all the different color correction tutorials and LUTs that are out there. Muddy looking images, shots that down't match together, skin tones that don't look quite right and that feeling of not knowing where to stop or when the grade looks right.
You can do it! Even if you're just a beginner or just starting out let this tutorial help you feel confident in Premiere Pro CC!
After I had tried everything to improve the look of my films, e.g. new camera, better grip, better lenses and cinematography training, the thing that finally helped my films look professional and land my first career job was what I did after the video edit in the color grade.
Adobe Premiere has made great strides not only advancing their editorial platform but in improving their color tools. In fact with the acquisition of Iridis SpeedGrade (a professional grading system) they have incorporated those industry standard tools now into Lumetri.
If you liked this tutorial and want a step-by-step training that goes all the way from familiarizing yourself with the tools to discovering the top grading secrets I want to invite you to free online workshop:
Or if you're just looking for something completely different and an easier alternative you can check out our plugin we've made for the Mac that's mentioned in the video:

Color Grading - Getting Cinematic ColorsLet Color Grading Transform The Look Of Your Films.
https://www.colorgradingcentral.com/how-to-color-grade-like-a-hollywood-colorist
I’ve always been obsessed about the quality of the image. When I was a kid I wanted to figure out a way take 35mm stills fast enough that I could make a movie LOL Obviously I knew couldn’t capture frames fast enough like that unless I had a motion picture film camera but I still dreamed.
Years later I discovered that with a 35mm film adapter I could attach still lenses to my 1/3” CCD camera and get that coveted cinema look with shallow depth of field.
But then I noticed one day that a wedding filmmaker was getting a far superior image and he wasn’t even using all the fancy gear and setup that I was using. I soon realized that the difference between my okay work and his was COLOR.
The final step to getting that cinematic look and setting films apart was color grading. After discovering this I began to apply look presets to my films and suddenly they began to look like a movie.
This lead me to be able to create a signature look that was desired and I was able to get my first job out of college with my body of work. You may find yourself in a similar situation or you may just want to improve the look of your projects.

Matching the color of two shots in Premiere Pro | Cinecom.netWhen filming with two cameras there's a chance that the colors don't match in the editing. In this tutorial you will learn how to match the color of two shots. Read More:
It can get difficult to match the colors of two different shots. I remember how frustrating it was when I started filming.
But basically it's nothing more than looking and comparing. You need to look at different elements of your shots. Like the sky, the grass, the clothing of your subject, the skin tones, etc.
Once you can compare and adjust the correct levels, you're good to go.
And then there's the correct order of doing your color corrections. The three biggest things are color temperature, exposure and saturation. But all of these parameters will influence each other. Therefore it's important to change these settings in the correct order.
We'll start with the exposure and contrast as that will influence the saturation. Next we'll change the saturation as that will influence the color temperature. And finally we can change the color temperature.

Film Emulation for Digital Video, Explainedhttp://photography.tutsplus.com/tutorials/film-emulation-for-digital-video-explained--cms-26144 ▶ In this lesson we examine film emulators, reviewing their common features and suggested uses. Film emulation is the process of converting digital footage to appear as if it was shot on film. This process works by matching the color values of digital footage to different film stocks. Film emulation can be achieved through stand-alone software, with plugins, or by using color look-up tables (often called LUTs).

The Effect of Color | Off Book | PBS Digital StudiosColor is one of the fundamental elements of our existence, and defines our world in such deep ways that its effects are nearly imperceptible. It intersects the worlds of art, psychology, culture, and more, creating meaning and influencing behavior every step of the way. Most fascinating are the choices we make, both subconsciously and consciously, to use color to impact each other and reflect our internal states. Whether in the micro-sense with the choice of an article of clothing, or the macro-sense where cultures on the whole embrace color trends at the scale of decades, color is a signifier of our motives and deepest feelings.
Here's a list of all the art used in the episode!

Beauty Color Grading + Retouching BreakdownVideo capture from a recent color grading session on DaVinci Resolve.
While the overall color grade couldn't be much simplier, additional efforts were needed to modify some qualities of the light and bring the skin appearance into cosmetic commercial range. The whole idea was to mute as much skin imperfections as possible while preserving subtle details for a more natural feel.
DaVinci Resolve in Under 5 Minutes: Smoothing ComplexionsIn this episode, Alexis Van Hurkman will use DaVinci Resolve to smooth skin tones for a commercial look. He starts by using a Qualifier to isolate the actor's face, then adjusts her skin tones using the Color Match palette. Subscribe to our channel to receive our free tips and tricks every Monday!

Natural Skin Smoothing - DaVinci ResolveI graded this shot recently on a project where the model needed to have a strong skin texture. It was a deliberate choice : she was casted and lit accordingly, then color graded without any targeted skin smoothing.
I am now using the same shot with a different color grade to demonstrate an advanced technique where the finest details of the skin are retained through heavy skin smoothing, for a more natural look. I have been using this technique for quite some time right now, and thought it was the perfect time to share it.
