86 Things // Zach McDonald Zach McDonald (www.86things.com) is an artist/designer who has been working as an independent artist since 2008, when he graduated with his B.A. in painting and drawing. Even though painting is his passion, it is not his only love. Everything around us is beautiful, both natural and man made. 
 
Things inspire him! What are these things? They are the things we use daily, the things we throw away, old and outdated things, the things in nature, the things we eat and drink and the things we wear. As an artist he strives in all his work to look at the things around him and to appreciate the pure aesthetic value of them. Sometimes what things do or how they are used is not nearly as interesting as what they look like or what they could be used for. 
 
As an artist Zach McDonald tries to expose the under appreciated and the uncommon. He tries to look at all things in new and different ways and as a result reinvent or create interesting and inspiring pieces of art.

Walk in my Shoes - a short documentary following the story of Lee, a homeless man in Chattanooga This short film documentary follows the story of Lee, a homeless man in Chattanooga, Tennessee, whose life has been dramatically changed by unforeseeable events. Through a theater program at The Salvation Army's Recreate Cafe, Lee is able to share his story, ultimately one of hope, through another's voice. The outcome is remarkable.

This film was produced by ArtsBuild, a nonprofit organization in Chattanooga, Tennesse, with the mission of "building a stronger community through the arts." Direction by Leif Ramsey of SVAD Productions.

The movie was shot on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and a Go Pro Hero 3 attached to a DJI Phantom (Drone) for the aerial shots.

Drew Forsey: Visual Prayer On July 22, I got a phone call from the local hospital. My brother, Drew Forsey, was in the trauma intensive care unit with a severe brain injury. He had crashed his bike into a ditch at speeds around 35-40 mph on a tricky downhill section of road. This was one of the few times that he and I didn't ride together. It's difficult to describe all of the thoughts and emotions that ran through my head that night as I sat in the family waiting room, his crushed helmet in my hands. 
 
I decided pretty early on that I would start filming. I didn't really have any plan for what I was going to make, but I knew I had to start filming. It's just how I process things. It was the only way I could think to express what I was feeling and what my family was going through. Hopefully this will give a small glimpse into Drew's story and how deeply we are all moved by this tragedy. 
 
Since Drew's accident, he has been moved to a brain rehab hospital in Atlanta where he has made some incredible progress. He's now mostly conscious and able to talk. We're hopeful that he will be walking and even more himself by the time he is discharged, but we'll have to wait and see. Brain injuries are still very mysterious, and take a long time to heal. 
 
I want to thank those who helped with this video. The prayer itself was written and recorded by Nick Lindsay and his sister. Daniel Cooper helped with some sound design/eq. Bryan Fowler let me borrow a little EOS M camera so I didn't draw too much attention to myself. I also want to thank everyone who has shown us an overwhelming amount of love and support this past month. It means the world.

Each and everyday thousands of unwanted animals all over the world are being euthanized. This documentary serves to bring awareness and needed funding for the animals and the shelter featured in this film as well as give you the opportunity to increase the chances of helping a sheltered animal find a home.

Danger Planet During a routine scan on a distant planet, a young space scout finds romance with a female pilot. But when peril strikes the two star-crossed explorers, he must face what lurks in the darkness of the planet to rescue the girl.

Danger Planet is an animated short created by students at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee. This 4 minute student animation was finished primarily in a summer after over a year of preproduction.

Sideshow Benson is the top act in Latigo’s much-lauded carnival--terrifying, thrilling and positively alive! A hardened monster, Benson has been scaring children into ill-humors longer than any show in town. But behind the razor-sharp teeth and manacled claws is the shadow of somebody entirely different. Somebody perhaps even Benson himself was unaware of until the day a most unexpected friend fluttered through his window. Now it’s up to Benson to change his tune or stay with what he does best, the Sideshow.

Rock in the Road In a faraway land, a king governed his realm so well that his people were in want of nothing. As the years passed, the king noticed his people had become lazy and selfish, so he devised a simple test to show them the value of others. As a young boy unknowingly faces the challenge, the future of the kingdom is built on the strength of his character. 
 
In the fall of 2007, Southern Adventist University’s animation students set out to create a three-minute short film based on a simple parable. This artistic venture, intended to be completed during one year, turned into a five-year journey. The result is the twelve-minute animated short, "Rock in the Road." 
 
The scope of the project grew as the team became interested in telling a longer form story. But as students who started it graduated, and other projects were begun, finishing the short became its own “rock in the road.” However, professors and students persevered, realizing the completion of the film would benefit everyone who was involved. A small, dedicated crew worked on it between other projects to finish the film at the end of the 2012 school year.

In One Breath | 48 Hour Film Festival Short Film A project we produced for the Walla Walla University Fast Film Festival.
We had 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film, and it had to include an iron and the ASWWU logo.
