It has been a privilege to use the Panasonic GH5 for a year of daily vlogging. With every camera, there seems to be some quirks, and I know that the GH5 has some, but of all the cameras I have owned and used, the GH5 has the least.

Cinematographer Explains 3 Different Camera Lenses | Vanity Fair
FILMMAKING | Perfect Noise Free Exposing & ISO for Video (Pocket 4K & Ursa Mini Pro G2)In this video I talk about one of the most common topics in filmmaking which is exposing your image properly for minimal noise and FPN, while retaining maximum dynamic range in the shadows and highlights even in low light scenes. I'm explaining what the ISO is, what it does to your image and when and how you should use it. I'm also going through how the shutter speed, frame rate and lens aperture affect the light coming through the lens. I'm using Blackmagic's new Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K G2 camera as well as the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, with plenty of examples for exposing your images including underexposing and overexposing. Finally I'm talking about Pocket 4K's Dual native ISO and how it changes things compared to cameras with a single native ISO. The same theories and techniques can be of course applied to any other camera.
Dealing with images that were not exposed properly and working with noisy footage and FPN is discussed in another video.
Thank you for watching!

*there is one little mistake at the graphic at 9:17. The 90 degrees rotating shutter graphic should be 270 degrees with the 90 part being the one that is uncovered (and light goes to the sensor through it). The rest of the shutter graphics are correct.
Getting perfect exposure and colors everytimeBecome a Patreon and get 1-on-1 mentorship! https://www.patreon.com/TomAntos
Getting the exposure and colours right (and the focus!) are the basics of video and filmmaking, but we don’t always get them correct. There are a lot of things happening on the day of a shoot, and it’s easy to overlook these simple things. The best thing is to develop a good routine to go through as you set up your shot. There are also some tools out there that make this process easier.

When shooting with standard video gamma profiles, this technique will work perfectly. However, that is not the case when shooting in LOG profiles, because each log profile has to be exposed differently.
For example, when shooting with the Slog-2 on Sony cameras, you have to over-expose the shot. By how much depends on your preference. For that reason, you should always do tests before shooting in LOG.
In my experience, I like to over expose SLog by 1.5 f/stops. You should adjust the settings of your camera, so that the middle gray is 1.5 f/stops over when using Slog-2. In case of V-Log, I like to over-expose by 1 f/stop.
I like to over-expose even regular video gamma profiles by 0.5 f/stop. So, in the case of this video I exposed the middle gray at exactly 40 IRE, but to me it still looked a little bit too dark. So, I normally expose the middle gray at exactly 50 IRE, or set the zebra to 50%.
Now, that’s is my preference. Some people I’ve worked with have told me they’d rather not over-expose and risk blowing out the highlights. Instead, they raise the midtone levels up by one f/stop in post-production.
Another thing you will notice is that on the camera and monitor the middle gray registers as 40 IRE, but in Premiere Pro’s waveform it shows up as 50 IRE. It might get confusing, but just know that if you exposed your shot well in the camera, it will look good even if the editing program shows a different IRE value. The difference is due to several factors, like the chart scale and depth bit value, etc., but I don’t want to get into that right now. The main point is that the middle gray in regular video should be 40-60% – exactly how much depends on your preference. To figure that out, I suggest you guys do your own tests.

Thank you for watching this video on 25 technical photography terms that I think everyone (especially beginners) should know. Today, there's so much misinformation about how photography works: the science, theory, and technology behind how images are formed. In this video I wanted to provide not only the definitions of key photography concepts, but how they relate to each other, gradually explaining the photo-taking process as a whole.
This was my first voiceover, so let me know what you thought in the comments below. I plan to continue voicing my own videos now; it's about time my channel knows a little bit about me.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
I'm adding an errors and clarifications segment to my video descriptions because often in my research, certain things elude me.
Errors:
Lightroom & Photoshop are mis-labeled (at 8:30)
The Pros/Cons for Auto Mode stay on-screen for Shutter Priority Mode (at 9:33)
(for the Pros/Cons for Shutter Priority Mode, read the transcription provided above)
Clarifications:
ISO is not an "acronym" but a mere shortening of the organization's name.
"DOF does not describe the depth of the part of the image that is in focus. It describes the depth of the part of the image in which points are adequately sharp. Only objects at one specific distance are in focus, so the depth of points in focus is always 0. An object in a scene is in focus if all the light from a point on the object is refracted to a point on the image. With an optically perfect lens, this occurs only with points a specific distance from the optical center of the lens. Any points closer to or farther from that optical center have their light refracted into a blur circle on the image. The farther the object is from the distance at which points are are in focus, the larger is the blur circle. When the image is printed or displayed, a blur circle is either so small that the human observer cannot tell the circle from a point, or large enough that that the observer can tell the circle from a point. When the circle is observably different from a point, that part of the image seems blurry. When the blur circle is small enough to be indistinguishable from a point, it is called adequately sharp. The DOF describes that part of the image in which blur circles are adequately sharp. The DOF of an image depends on several factors, including the visual acuity of the observer, the print or display size, and the viewing distance. To promote comparability of DOF between images, standard observer acuity of 6/6, print size of 8" x 10", and viewing distance of the image diagonal are often assumed." - FingerPainter from DPREVIEW

Handheld Filming - The Great AdvantagesLet me explain why handheld shooting can improve your videos!
Support the channel and join our filmmaking community: http://www.patreon.com/andyax
The past ten years, I’ve been working as a freelance filmmaker. And what I’ve seen is that more an more clients ask me to document events. Events where I don’t have much time to rig, where I don’t have time to direct people and stage scenes. It’s all about scanning the location with your eyes and finding the moments you want for the video. Even though I bring my steadycam and shoulder rig, I often end up using just my hands. Why is this? Because when you see an action you want to capture, you may only have seconds to shoot it. You have to be able to get the camera in the right position, drag focus and adjust exposure before the moment is gone, forever. Place your focus on what is happening in front of the camera, and not the camera itself.
So why not shoot just handheld? Well, there is a reason why we have tripods and steadycams. They can do things that is almost impossible when shooting handheld, and they can tell your story in different ways. My point is: shooting handheld gives you the ability to shoot fast, in an easy, affordable and very flexible way. You will be able to shoot more, have time to experiment and move quickly around. And that may again be crucial to capture the right moments. The only downside is that the shots can get shaky, but this can be solved with techniques and stabilization (warp stabilizer) in post.
If you want to be the king of handheld shooting, get yourself an easy rig. I recommend the Easyrig Minimax which can handle rigs up to 7kgs. It distributes all the weight to your entire body so you can shoot an entire day without getting tired. It keeps the camera stable in the position you want, and if you need two hands, you can just let go of your camera. The Easyrig will hold it for you! You can buy the Easyrig minimax here (affiliation link): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1282660-REG/easyrig_erig_minimax_easyrig_minimax_camera_support.html/BI/20363/KBID/15164/kw/EAMINIMAX/DFF/d10-v2-t1-xEAMINIMAX

Depth of field and crop factor misconceptions. There is still a lot of incorrect information out there about -
-Depth of field
-Crop sensor vs full frame cameras
-Speedboosters
-Light refraction
And it seems many people who profess to know all about their camera gear, don't actually fully know some of the basics regarding-
-Aperture
-Focal length
-The focus plane
-Crop factor
-The Circle of confusion
-ISO
-Image noise
So I decided to talk about all of the above, and I drew some simple illustrations for you, and also took a few photos to help show what is actually happening to the light as it travels through our cameras lens.
I really hope this video is useful.
Shutter speed, Aperture and ISO: What do these mean and how do cameras work?Every camera has a just three basic options: shutter speed, aperture and ISO. This is how they work.

4K Video, What is the real cost of upgrading your video camera and computerhttp://video-alchemy.com
4K video, what is the real cost of upgrading?. If your thinking of upgrading to a 4K UHD video camera like the Panasonic GH4, Sony FDR AX100 or Blackmagic 4K Production camera then you may be in for a surprise when is comes to what else you may need to upgrade in order to make use of this new format.
In this video I look at all the stages from the recording media through to your computer and final storage of the RAW footage.
See blog post here : http://video-alchemy.com/4k-video-cost-of-upgrading
99% of this video was shot on the GH4 in 4K 100Mbps, then keyed using Ultrakey in Adobe Premiere CS6 and then downscaled to 1080p which is a testament to how good it is as I would normally have used After Effects and Keylight 1.2.
