Chic - Le Freak "Le Freak" is a successful 1978 disco song by the disco band Chic. It was the band's third single album and first Billboard Hot 100 and soul music number-one song. Along with the tracks, "I Want Your Love" and "Chic Cheer", "Le Freak" scored number one on the disco charts for seven weeks. The single album has the distinction of being the best selling record ever for Atlantic Records company, and the best-selling single ever for Warner Music Group until it was displaced during 1990 (by the singer Madonna's song "Vogue").

The single achieved sales of more than four million and also scored number seven in the UK singles chart.

The song was ranked number 19 on Billboard Magazine's top 100 songs of the first 50 years of the "Hot 100" chart.

Donna Summer - MacArthur Park "MacArthur Park" is a song by Jimmy Webb in 1968, originally composed as part of an intended cantata. Richard Harris was the second to record it. Other covers include Donna Summer's disco arrangement from 1978 and Waylon Jennings's version recorded in 1969. Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton, and Woody Herman all performed big-band jazz arrangements.

"MacArthur Park" utilized flowery lyrics and metaphors (most famously, love being likened to a cake left out in the rain) that were considered by media such as the Los Angeles Times to be "polarizing" and "loopy." The inspiration for "MacArthur Park" was the relationship and breakup between Webb and Susan Ronstadt, a cousin of singer Linda Ronstadt. MacArthur Park was where the two occasionally met for lunch and spent their most enjoyable times together.

In 1978, "MacArthur Park" by Donna Summer was number one on the American pop music sales charts for three weeks. "MacArthur Park Suite stayed at number one on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart for five weeks in 1978.

Sister Sledge - We Are Family Four sisters: Kim Sledge (born 21 August 1957), Debbie Sledge (born 9 July 1954), Joni Sledge (born 13 September 1956), and Kathy Sledge (born 6 January 1959).

Best known for their work with Chic in the late '70s, Sister Sledge reached the height of their popularity during the disco era but had been recording since the early '70s and were still active in the late '90s. The group was formed in Philadelphia in 1971, when the sisters' ages ranged from 12 to 16, and they recorded their first single, "Time Will Tell," for the Philly-based Money Back label. (For the first few years, the group called itself Sisters Sledge.)

In 1972, Sister Sledge signed with Atco and recorded its second single, "Weatherman," which was followed by the Jackson 5-like "Mama Never Told Me" in 1973. It wasn't until 1979, when Chic leaders Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards produced We Are Family, that Sister Sledge really exploded commercially. "He's the Greatest Dancer" and We Are Family's title song both soared to number one on the R&B charts.

"Take Me Home" was originally recorded by American singer and actress, Cher. The song was released as a single in 1979 and became Cher's first top ten single in the United States in five years, since "Dark Lady" in 1974. It would be her last for almost another decade, until "I Found Someone" in late 1987. "Take Me Home" hit #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, #21 on the Hot Soul Singles chart and #2 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. The single also charted in Canada and Norway, peaking at #10 and #9 respectively. In 1979, the RIAA awarded Cher with a Gold certification for the album for sales of over 500,000, and a Gold certification for the single for sales of over 1,000,000.
