Getting the MOST value from NI Expansions | WITHOUT using Maschine 2 software or a Maschine DeviceNI has more than 50 Expansions, but how do you use these if you don’t have a Maschine or the Maschine 2 software? I’ll show you how to use all the assets in the Expansions in some creative ways, with just your DAW. I’ll focus on Logic Pro and even demo some tips on the latest features in Logic 11!
Even if you don't have Maschine the curated Exoansions and the drums, loops and features included are good value - as long you know how to access the content.
The whole point of this video is for DAW users of Logic, Ableton, Cubase or whatever, to leverage the content of an Expansion, even though you don’t have a Maschine Device or access to the Maschine 2 software. What do you give up? Can I use all the content and are there tools and techniques that make it easy? What are the limitations?

This allows you to route any sound and control/record track mutes at the press of a pad, and also set up any FX chain and bus the audio over there, also just by pressing a pad!
It has to be by far the best of all the hack solutions for recording track mutes. Minimal routing work and no physical cables, and I haven't tried it yet but I guess you should be able to export your stems individually with the information intact (maybe someone can confirm this).

Controlling all these synths with Maschine PlusI put together this "synth desk" with all my favorite synths. A pseudo self-contained tactile groovebox if you will... Getting all of this working together reliably is a milestone in my composition journey.

2. Save Your Template:

Sampling synth VSTs in Maschine has never been so easy. Maschine's UI may not be the best for workflow however it's sampling capabilities beats all odds. In this video I will be showing you how to set-up your Maschine project so that you can resample any sounds such as synths that you created in Maschine back into its own native sampler plugin.
Resampling in Maschine gives us sound designers and music producers an opportunity to get more creative with our sound design process and thus making our works original. I will be showing you how instrument and effects groups can be set-up in Maschine so that 2 signal chains are routed collectively to a bus group. The bus group can then be set-up as a source for resampling the sounds to the resampling group in Maschine.

How to Create Remixes with Acapellas in Maschine [Hip Hop / House Remix Example]I'll show you how to make a remix of a song in Maschine Plus or MK3. Making remixed songs isn't too difficult and can be a lot of fun. You'll first need to create a beat in Maschine. Then you'll need to identify the acapella you want to use in the remix.
From there, you will extract the vocals from a song and you'll add it to your song in Maschine. This tutorial will walk you through the whole process, so you can start making remixes of your own. The example in this video is a house remix of the the song "Both" by Gucci Mane and Drake.

6 Ways You Can Perform Live Arrangements in Maschine MK3 or PlusI'll show you how to perform live arrangements with the Maschine MK3 or Maschine Plus. This tutorial will share 6 ways you can arrange and perform a beat live, whether you are doing so in your own studio or for a crowd!
You can create and perform an arrangement in so many ways, and I'm sharing all the ways that I know personally. I prefer some of these methods over others, but I hope you can use one of these performance techniques to create beats of your own arrangement on the fly.
We'll utilize Patterns, Scenes, the mute and unmute buttons, and the Lock and Extended Lock buttons found on the Maschine MK3 and Maschine Plus controllers.

Clips unlock new ways of working with the Song Mode in MASCHINE and allow you to record MIDI and Modulation directly and anywhere on the timeline. You can also use Clips to augment and alter your existing Scenes and Patterns to bring more liveliness and variation to your arrangement.
Clips can be used all by themselves, similar to a traditional DAW workflow, or as an extension of the existing Pattern and Scene workflows.

Welcome back to another video. Often People will ask me is it possible to get a great mix in Maschine? I personally like mixing in Maschine and using the the tools they give right out of the box. I think they are amazing and sound great. Mastering in Maschine can be a breeze as well. It is about understanding what you are doing with the tools provided. Such as EQ, Compressor, Limiter, Saturation, Reverb, Delays, Etc. I've realized some of the best producers understand the gear that they are working with or have an engineer on hand that can assist them in their software. Native instruments has improved their software over there years which allows mixing to be very intuitive. Being able to add 3 party plugins takes it to a whole new level. If you are serious about learning the maschine without having to comb though videos on youtube and want real information on maschine software peep the the other links below. Film Scoring with Maschine - MIDI Scene TriggeringMaschine enables me to trigger scenes from my DAW when it is used as a VST. This feature is useful in film scoring because it allows us to compose our music regardless of the final edit AND allows us to be flexible with re-edits. This video demonstrates this feature and I'll explain why and how I use it to respond more quickly and proactively to a director or editor in the scoring process!
Film Scoring with Maschine - Layering Instruments & CollaborationSince Maschine is designed to work with patterns and scenes, I can easily add/remove layers to my scenes in collaboration with a director or editor. Using my MK3 is useful in film scoring because it allows us to make adjustments to our instruments and layers based on what is happening in the scene and/or dialog. Here, I'm demonstrating how this works in a very clear example - by triggering scenes with MIDI in Maschine (from Cubase) and making adjustments to my scenes by including/removing patterns.
Film Scoring with Maschine - Optimizing Your WorkflowMaschine MK3 offers composers an extremely powerful MIDI interface for music production inside the Maschine Software. With great power, comes a learning curve and this video touches on how I use my MK3.
I use the Komplete Kontrol S49 keyboard simultaneously which gives me a keyed and remote control over my DAW while Maschine MK3 is the hub of my creative process. Using this combination is optimized for working within my DAW, using Maschine as a VST instrument.
Film Scoring with Maschine - Using Clips for RealismAs a composer, I am always looking make my music authentic and emotionally effective. The most powerful tool for that is realism - from sample quality to performance quality.
Maschine is historically a pattern based tool and patterns often constrain my performance. No matter what kind of music you make, patterns sound like... patterns. They definitely have a place in the composition landscape, but for scoring and production music I need to be able to also break out of using patterns if I want my music to really shine.
Maschine's implementation of clips is an elegant (and necessary) feature for me to use when I'm making my music reach my goals for authenticity and realism. In this video, I'll briefly explain how and when I use clips and demonstrate their use from the MK3. If you are a composer and you're curious if Maschine can be used as a pseudo DAW, then this video will be very enlightening!
Making Modern Music - Composing with Host AutomationAutomation is a vital tool for mixing in a DAW. It allows us to change parameters over time, turn things on and off at different times and generally improve our final production. Automation makes it possible to add a creative layer to our productions that truly takes our music to the next level. But, with host automation, we can actually compose with instruments in more interesting ways. Automation isn't just about mixing, it is a real instrument that we can compose with!
In this stream, I'll demonstrate how easy host automation is. Host automation is NOT the same as MIDI Learn or MIDI CC automation. I love host automation because it just works - very little setup needed. Since the setup is easier, I find myself getting to the writing stage in a faster, more natural way.
Let's check out how host automation works for Komplete Kontrol and Maschine in Cubase. But, host automation works in other DAWs and with many other VST instruments. If you're looking to streamline your workflow for composing in your DAW, then I can't recommend host automation highly enough!

This is a vid showing how to monitor and record effects like Guitar Rig and be able to hear them while recording. It involves a bit of strange routing, so I'll include that below.
This will help anyone hoping to record audio and hear the FX in the studio, and will make it possible to do live tracking a la FKJ or artists that layer everything live and on the spot.
Copy and paste these steps!
1) Make a group for guitar rig
2) Load guitar rig on the first sound slot (pad)
3) Make a group for your guitar
4) Set the GROUP output (dial above Plug in the software, or the Channel button on the hardware) to the guitar rig group's sound slot.
5) Make an audio module on pad 1on the Guitar Group (press the Sampling button on the hardware, or click the waveform in the software)
6) Click the input for that sound slot to your guitar (again, the dial above the plugin icon or the Channel button on the hardware)
7) Set that input to the input of your interface where the guitar is plugged into
8) Press record then start when you are ready to rock
Once you're done, set the input source to none to mute the guitar afterwards.

In this video you’ll see how you can easily create melodies and chord progressions in Maschine MK3 without knowing much music theory.
All these features are available on all Maschine controllers: Maschine MK1 and MK2, Maschine Mikro MK1, MK2 and MK3 and Maschine Studio. It’s just that the MK3 adds dedicated buttons on the front panel for quicker access.
So these music theory helpers are in Keyboard mode and Chords mode
With keyboard mode you can choose a type of scale, select a root note and play in any key and only the “right” notes are available on the pads.
Chords mode has two options: Harmonizer and Chord Sets.
Harmonizer creates parallel chords - the same chord but starting from a different root which is not very flexible, it’s similar to Ableton Live’s chord effect.
Chord sets offer you a bunch of chords that will sound good in a particular key and they are not the same chord played up and down the keyboard. It’s basically a pool of chords that you can play just by pressing a single pad and create your own chord progressions.

The way scenes and patterns work is bit of a mystery to beginners. I remember when I got my MK1 10 years ago it was the most difficult aspect of Maschine. But once you have a good grasp of how they work you'll be able to express yourself more freely and lay down and try new ideas very quickly.
In this video I use only the Maschine MK3 to navigate the scenes and patterns without using the mouse and the computer screen. It's not a complete tutorial, but a good start and will hopefully help you be less confused bout how the whole system works.

Creative Sampling Session With MaschineThis is a dope sampling session I did with Maschine, where I sampled different sources for every sound in my beat.
It's not supposed to be a detailed tutorial but you can learn a lot from it or use it as an inspiration.
I started with a chord loop from my own work-in-progress sample pack and chopped it up.
Then I recorded a kick and a hi-hat that I had on my SP-404.
I also used my Audio Technica AT2020 mic to record a cabassa, a tambourine, and a note from my kalimba.
I also recorded a bass sound from my Microkorg XL and a synth pad/lead from the Animoog app on the iPhone.

In this short video I show you how to resample your own compositions inside the Maschine software for the purpose of creating a faux sampled sound without actually sampling other artists' copyrighted work. So you're basically creating your own samples.
This is also very useful if you're experiencing CPU overload because you're using some resource-hungry plugin. It allows you to turn your MIDI pattern into an audio clip which doesn't tax your CPU. It's not like a proper freeze function that's available in other DAWs, as you need to manually disable the plugin(s) after you've resampled them.
As always, I do a short beat making demonstration with the sample, that I created.

Setting up a filter with an LFO is an easy way to add a touch of funk to any track. More seasoned producers would surely know how to do it, but if you haven’t quite mastered this technique I’m gonna be showing you the settings for Maschine’s Filter effect I use quite often to get a rhythmic synth like this one.
It’s a perfect example of using a very technical aspect production in a musical way.
